Below are the results from the Masters European National Championships for the 65-69 500 meters top 3 finishers. They were all from France and France is hosting the championship.

36.914 would be a new WR besting the old one of the banned doper by 2/100 of a second.

It seems that most of the masters european trackies are not coming to Carson for worlds.

DANGLETERRE Marc FRA Temps : 0'36''914
DUBLE Jean Louis FRA Temps : 0'38''091
MUSELET Christian FRA Temps : 0'38''382

I noted, looking at the entries, that there aren't that many folks coming from overseas, at all.

So, am I allowed to participate here once more if I'm strongly considering making a run at Track Nats next summer? Been two plus years since I pinned a number on. I have had the second ankle fused and have dealt with a non-life threatening heart issue but am intact and starting to train both on and off the bike again. Weighted walking lunges really suck!

I saw the eye doc today. He said that my eye is progressing as it should, no issues. And I can ride my bike. He was somewhat perplexed; it seems that the majority of his patients are around my age, but I'm the first one who's a hardcore endurance athlete. No full-contact football, either American or otherwise, but the bike is okay. Shop ride tomorrow!

Great news on the eye Chuck.

In other news... I ordered a 2018 plug-in Hybrid from Porsche. It was supposed to arrive on September 8th. I received a letter from Porsche advising me that the care would be 8 to 12 weeks late due to CA environmental testing requirements. Porsche provided three years of free maintenance to salve my wounds.

It is interesting that all the other 2018 Porsches have been released by the EPA except for the hybrids. Supposedly, they are testing carbon emissions. The 2018 is an exact copy of the 2017 that the EPA has tested before with the same engine and hybrid technology.

That would make sense if one believes they have an ax to grind on VW and that they could actually change to focus on a potentially bad actor but why not test the potentially most environmentally friendly car first versus last?

If, in fact, the EPA is extensively testing my car, great. I suspect that is not the case. It is probably more like Porsche took longer to get the right paperwork to the EPA on the hybrid on time and the hybrids went to the back of the line. Hence, I am getting compensation from Porsche in the form of free maintenance.

One other aspect of the EPA testing may be that Porsche is trying to get the hybrid to qualify under the CA rebate program. If it does, I may be eligible for a state rebate and a sticker for the car pool lane along with the existing federal rebate.

It was mostly a joke.

Mostly.

I know there can be a six month or more backlog on testing at times. And it wouldn't surprise me if they are being a bit more fussy in running the tests. Engineers don't like to be gamed by engineers.

I thought the rebate/HOV stuff only applied to full electric in CA at this point, hybrids being as ubiquitous as waitress/actresses in CA. My friend in NC just got a screaming deal on a Leaf, huge rebate, free charging stations all over, Etc. Think it ended up costing him $22k. Rock Hill is nice

Plug-ins get a $1500 rebate. For example the BMW 530 is on the list. Electrics get $2500 rebate.

In CA, there are income limits such that high earners are not eligible for the rebate. The Feds do not care about income limitations.

Here is the CA website. https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/eligible-vehicles

My problem is that I liked the car and wanted it the moment I did the test drive. However, I wanted the fancy electronics that controls speed with the radar and that is a adder so I had to special order it and take a 2018. Most Porsche customers will take fancy wheels over fancy electronics. Hence, dealers do not stock the fancy dancy speed control and automatic braking. The electronics is similar to Tesla but the driver mush keep the car in the lane versus the car almost driving itself.

Hope you get the new car soon Hermes. My wife and I want to purchase a 25-26' travel trailer but need a viehicle that can pull more than my 4Runner. We dont want a pickup due to the climb to get into the truck and have been waiting for the 2017 Grand Cherokee diesel that was not released. There is no word if it will be available in 2018. It can tow 7.200 lbs. We are even considering finding a 2016 model with the diesel option that was produced.

I have a 2004 Tundra, bought new in 2004, with only 52000 miles on it. It satisfies my "truck requirement".

Last November I had to replace the Prius I was driving with something new. I'd had my fill with the used cars I'd been buying over the previous six years. They were decent enough cars, a Subaru Forester, and then the Prius, but they had a bunch of miles on them when I bought them and I'd tack a bunch more on in short order. Things got expensive quickly! So, it was new car, with a warranty, time. I strongly considered electric (I'm still intrigued), and the top of my list for an affordable EV with decent range was the Chevy Bolt. In researching it I found a few issues that pertained to me, not the car per se. The first was room, it's not that big, only a little bigger than a Honda Fit. The second was the availability of charging places. I'd have to have an expensive charging station installed in my home, and then there was work. There is no place to plug it in there. I discovered, too, that recharging in most places I go would be problematic. That brings in the third issue, Real Life Range. 180 to 200 miles? VSC is 336 miles from my house. Reno is close to 400 miles. Clear Lake is 246 miles. I'd have to stop and wait 30 minutes to an hour at a "fast charge station", IF I'd paid for the fast charge version of the car to be able to do that , otherwise the wait would be even longer with a 11OV charge going on.

That sort of killed my EV idea. For short drives, even for commuting to work, it would have been great. But, if you drive the distances that I do, as often as I do, EV's aren't there yet.

I bought a C-Max Hybrid. I kinda wish I'd bought a Focus ST. It would have been a lot more fun!

I know I'm deficient in posting pictures and am working on it. My next hurdle to overcome is replying with a quote. I type out the message but there is no "send or post button" in which to complete the post. Is it just me?, or is there a secret club handshake or something?

I have a small business adventure that I can post, modify, converse and sale using my phone while fishing.

Happy hunting.

My lease is up on my current car the beginning of November. So if the new car shows up before then, I am good to go. If not, I will have to take action. Of course, I am not the only customer in this situation and as far as the dealerships and Porsche are concerned, the dealers have less cars to show and sell. I am sure that they are applying as much expediting as they can.
