I saw someone recently wearing a rainbow jersey that most definitely hadn't been earned, like it was a team jersey or something. Couldn't believe it.

I have two vintage jerseys with stripes. One is a Campagnolo acrylic with WC stripes across the chest. The other is a Team Cornelo acrylic with WC stripes on the long sleeves. I have no qualms wearing either of them.

Anyone riding with me knows I am no world champion. I can't remember the last time I rode the Campagnolo jersey, but I use the Cornelo jersey as a LS under layer with my club jersey on top. You can see the stripes. If anyone gives me any crap about it, I'll just demolish them at the next town line.

Now showing up with unearned stripes of any kind in a race, that's different. I used to race with my Cornelo jersey underneath. I don't anymore. Nobody ever gave me as much as a comment, but it's not right so I don't.

I'm looking forward to the day I can ask when it's appropriate to wear a state championship jersey. :-)

In the fall on Sunday rides I wear Steelers Jerseys over my cycling jerseys. In the Cleveland area I get mixed reactions like "Fark U Troy" or ""go Ben!". I've never been accused of pretending to be a world champ.

I learned this morning that A) three hours of sleep, and B) a banana for breakfast do NOT constitute a healthy approach to a training session. Funny, I felt quite good for the first 40 minutes, then POW...done. Shaky legs, tunnel vision, dizzy - the works, and it came on like someone threw a switch.

Time for a nap....

Typically good Roger's Session. Cleave in attendance, as well as a couple Masters big dogs. One of whom was definitely not in off-season mode. Humbling.

Looks like rain tomorrow, so squeezed in a decent effort up the local 20-min hill.

VanceMac, 'good' is such a subjective word. 2 min Z2 and 2 min Z3 X 6 reps always kills me more than almost any other workout. At times I was close to max speed and effort in Z3 with my puny 48 X 15 gear. No riding tonight but I will be back at VSC tomorrow for more suffering.

Still sick but getting better and the cold is limited to my head. So another 40 minutes of low z2 on the trainer.

Training schedule says "day off" today. I have some things I need to get done OTHER than training, so I'll do those instead. Must-stay-off-bike!!!

I couldn't agree more!

My story is similar - 53 pounds (and I'm petite). And no - NO pictures!

FTP test this morning. Not a PR. but much better than last time, mainly because, this time, I engaged my brain before clicking the lap button. Had a big blowout warming up, from a rough little hole in the sidewall left by a past flat. Thankfully it held during the rest of the ride, as the area where I do my testing is rather remote (mostly on an Indian reservation), and I only carry one tube/CO2.

Had to drag race a pitbull during my warm down. Owner was of an age where I didn't trust that the dog hadn't been taught aggression, so when the dog started the chase I "dialed it up to 400", and went from cruising at ~21 to ~29 before the dog gave up. I didn't sense any evil intent, and, at those speeds, it's all the dog can do to try and maintain the pace. It couldn't even bark until giving up. But it was pretty quick (briefly) for a Pit. If he were given to chasing bikes (and he isn't) my dog would make someone hit 38-40.

YIKES.....

I have a girlfriend who was knocked down just last week by a "friendly" huge dog, a puppy, whose owner was totally clueless. The pooch wanted to play, that was all, but he was so big...OMG. Why was he off-leash?? The dog and Vera (and her new Trek Domane 6.2) came out of it okay, thank heavens.

The rains, The Pineapple Express, are here and it is epic (watch the news tonight), so I did the required 1 hour at Z2 (pace) at the gym on the spin bike. I threw in a few efforts, and felt quite good.

My PowerTap LYC still isn't here, it was supposed to be here yesterday, and tracking now shows it arriving tomorrow. So, I used HR and PE this morning. I may have to tomorrow, as well, if it is still raining (forecast says it will be). Ex wants me to do the group ride along with a 30 minute "TT" ride (as I said). I'd hate to sit on the trainer for that long at that level of effort - but I will if I have to.

It's pouring here. I'm setting up the trainer in a bit. Or shooting myself. It's a coin toss.
