"You guys got balls!", said the motorist after seeing us cross the "river" on our bikes. - apologies for the blurry picture - Did look like quite an adventure tho', wish I was there. |

Cross the "river" with bikes. Where are the pixs of the river crossing. I've seen Barry's Oscar nominated movie and your Ansel Adamsish images yet none of the actual crossing....no pixs then can we really believe it happened:rolleyes:

I had the camera on during one crossing but the camera cut out so I lost the footage. :notamused:

Yup, I guess you're going to have to make a bigger effort to come on out so that you can witness these events. You, Harry, and Maxine--MFA*.

NR: have you decided if you are riding a 200K this wknd? I might be able to join you for part of it. Not certain I want to do the whole ride since I will be adding miles from home. Anyone else for a Sunday ride? |

* Missing From Action I'm doing this ride on Saturday, in PA: http://www.mapmyride.com/view_route?...1&rs=undefined It's the first-ever bike ride to benefit the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, a very cool place near my hometown. "75 miles to celebrate 75 years" of raptor conservation. They're even letting us camp on Hawk Mountain, which normally isn't done; they don't actually have a campground, so it will be primitive (a pit toilet somewhere, no running water available.) I'm heading up there today and will probably spend Saturday night, too, and maybe do a little hiking Sunday. |
I forgot to tell y'all about my mechanical woes today. When I got to the train this AM I went to put my Ulock onto my bike, snagged my rear Canti brake and it(brake) fell off. WTF!! Either the post bolt loosened and fell off during the ride OR I sheared the post bolt off. I could not find the bolt so I'm thinking it fell off. The train came and I could not spend any more time with it so its future is unknown.
NR: If I sheared the bolt, my bikes future is in doubt for the wknd. I can ride my other bike(moustache bars:)) but don't know what mileage I can do. Usually it only takes me around town for groceries, library and such. I guess it is time to find out what it can or can't do. |

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/276371 I believe nbac123(I think that's his sig) posted this route a few months back. It's mostly road and some of the new(ish) BWAtrail. I've been meaning to check it out. Might make for a decent loop to and from Annapolis and Ches City. |

I think I'd like to stay further east than nbac's route--something that goes through Annapolis and picks up Solomons Island Rd and Muddy Creek Rd. |

Some dude named Greater Brown posted it to Bikely. Better check the route though:rolleyes: He uses nbac section and the B&A trail. I gotta find a new canti bolt and then I will make concrete plans. GBs route is 200K. Also he uses Rt2 instead of Riva rd to cross South river. I "THINK" Riva is friendlier and less traffic. Here's his link: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...esapeake-Beach GB: have you ridden this loop? I've ridden sections of it but not all. |

Whoa, didn't know there was another, my bad. If you had plans to go to DE then by all means go. Eastern shore is always a nice ride especially with this weekend forecast.

Yeah, I mapped the ride to Chesapeake Beach from Essex and came up with this:
http://bimactive.com/ba/ui/route_det...e&m2=findroute ...almost 140 miles! I'm not sure if I'm up for two >100 mile days in a row. |

Rode the whole ride two weeks ago on the new bike. Great route. I've been over the Riva bridge and I think it's slightly shorter, but has less shoulder so I like the Solomons bridge better. The traffic is fast and heavy, but there's lots of room. If it makes any difference, I am leading this ride as the next Bob's BBC Rando Ride in three weeks. I'd much rather ride it with you then.

How about this(if Bob can ride) we(if NR wants to give up DE and my bike is in working order) can meet near GBs hood since he is time restricted then ride 50ish miles(beer if you must:lol:) then we can go our own ways to more miles or a lawn chair. I was able to get a bolt for my cantis(hope it fits and was not sheared off). Lots of ifs but keep in touch and we might be able to pull something off.

I have been avoiding the north corridor recently and am ready to re-visit. Howsabout a shortened version of On Again/Off Again? http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/302653 We'd have to meet up in Hunt Valley for it. I'd suggest meeting here: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,0.017724&z=16 8:30AM meetup? The Coho's ready. :) |
