700mm bar with 100mm stem , strange setup or ok ?

Hi ,

I currently have a 100mm stem and 630 mm bars on by all mountain bike . I see some 700mm bars on sale and I'm poised to purchase . I'd like to avoid the cost of a new stem .

So If I invest in those bars ill be running 700mm bars with a 100mm stem , can I expect that to handle well or is it very unusual ? I see the fashion is wide bars and short stems but 700mm isn't even that wide compoared to what is out there .

Any insights appreciated,

J
