Does anyone know anything about wheeler bikes? I think theyre from germany but i dont know of any distributors in North Ameri.ca

A friend of mine used to race on one of their ht's. He was really good, not sure if he's gone pro or not, but he really liked it. This was about 7 years ago though (oh i've wasted my life haha)....so things may have changed. Maybe someone else can elaborate.

Pretty sure that's where the name originated. As for specialized, I have no idea.

They had a big name in Australia about 5-10 years ago, but seem to have gone quiet since then. They had a good name as far as I knew.

My cousin let me try his 3 year old rigid wheeler (Continental, LX Deore, IRC, some good stuff ) and I really liked it, I ran a low pressure in the front Continental Traction Pro 2.0 and it was great fun, a bit bumpy mind you but it helped build some useful skills.

Wheeler used to be a big player in mountain biking. Downunder lots were ridden in the DH circuit. However there quality seemed to get a bit lower and lots of places stopped stocking them. I'm not really sure why this happened and have effectively ceased to exist down under.

Wheeler is a great MTB brand from Germany. Maybe it doesnt get much exposure in the US but they are superb like most of the Teutonic industry.

the name specialized came from the original company, Specialized Bicycle imports. which was a parts distributor in the US, the guy that owned it sent a Tom Ritchey frame to Japan and had cheap copies made, thats how the stumpjumper came to be!

What I know is that Kmart Mountain Bikes are not MTB's.

Fake front suspension you can't even change the re-bound on them.

Back suspension is the ones you can get on eBay for $15.

Wheeler has a distribution center here in Victoria, B.C., Canada, but the bikes are made in Taiwan I believe. The Cross bikes have pretty decent components, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, Alveo shifters, Suntour lockout shocks, 700 wheels, alloy frame, but they don't sell them here, or else they're trying to break into the market here. They are a reasonably priced fairly decent hybrid bikes, I don't know about their road bikes or mtn. bikes. They seem decent too. Certainly much better than a Walmart or K-mart variety , they're a decent bike really, it seems to me. They sell in Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Australia, South America, Malaysia, but like I said, they might be taking a run at North America, since they've opened a distribution office here, or were trying to. The last time I called them their phone number was out of service. I was trying to get a retail price on the Cross bikes, because they were selling off last years bikes to the public at an affordable price. One bike shop owner told me they used to sell here years ago, many years ago, but from what I saw the bikes looked quite well made. That's what I know about them.
