Some more footage from the closing weekend (Oct. 2-3) at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary:
Don't worry D, I made a vid with you riding too...just waiting for it to upload (but it won't be done any time soon). |
Looks like they make good use of the terrain they have. Liked the blind launch into the 'rock garden.'
|
The rock garden is on the DH course...I hadn't been on the course for three years but when you get comfortable with it, you can air the launch and clear most of the rock garden.
COP used to be a lot different but a few years ago, Tom Pro and Gravity Logic were hired to rework the park. The trails are fast and flowy but all of the big challenging stunts are gone. So it's more fun for flow but not as fun for sessioning. |
Finally!!!! A video of D riding Whistler!!!
|
Doo-dah.
I was almost afraid to look. So that's what happened off that wall. Good thing you're faster than me; I didn't know how to gauge speed to stay in camera range. |
Well I just hope it was worth the wait!! I left the footage more complete rather than editing to specific parts...that way you could see more of yourself riding. I'll go through the Sun Peaks footage and see if there is anything worth compiling for you.
It is hard getting good continuous footage...you have to ride completely differently when wearing the camera. Rather than focusing on my own riding, I have to "watch" the rabbit ride. |
Very Fun! My parents went to Whistler BC last year for vacation! I begged and begged but they wouldnt take me ! lol..
Awesome footage guys! |
Very nice! Glad to see some footage of Doug. Nice choice in music, too--for pretty much all your videos. Definitely diggin' the electronic/dubstep in the last one.
|
Was worth the wait for sure! Man, good memories; makes me want to go back already. We need to make sure we can drag Maelstrom along too.
|
Another trip to Wizzla for sure...without all of the stops and extra driving along the way! I'm thinking mid-August but it'll depend on what the other guys can work out.
|
Heading to work tonight. 6-8" of freshies around town.

Don't forget todo some donuts!

Well I won't lie--I haven't rode in a few weeks & I wasn't planning on riding today. But if I was, I would be SOL. The roads have frozen over in Georgia. The sleet came down all last night & it's still coming down now. This is a day to be feared by those who can't drive. I'm almost tempted to go for a ride on a road just to see how long it takes to bust my ass.

^^ Nice little dusting you got there.
|
does hydrolic fluid freeze in the brake lines?
|
^^ Brake fluid does absorb moisture; but in a closed system on a bicycle it's very unlikely to happen - - especially in any amount that could actually freeze the system.
Now, when it comes to snow plow setups, there are some who prefer Western over Meyer because the Western system uses ATF instead of hydraulic oil. Lotta Meyer users have had pumps freeze up on them. Mine hasn't had any trouble but it is an ancient remote-pump unit mounted inside the cab on the floorboard. |
Yeah I'm sure it's nothing to you northern folk, but it's pretty significant down here. This is the second time in my life that I'm seen sleet/ice on Georgia roads, & we're never prepared. The only salt I saw on my way home last night was on a 5 mile section of the highway that leads into my small town. The road I live on is fairly busy & it didn't make the cut for the salt.

Dude you have NO IDEA how lucky you are to live within moderate range of most of your friends & somewhere to eat. Living in Locust Grove puts me at a major disadvantage for cabin fever. That & the fact that my motorcycle is STRANDED at the shop until all this ice melts, so I have to borrow my moms car & she won't let me go anywhere! It's driving me insane.
Do you want us to call for help? |
^^
