And Blair still has all of the pics from Chris' camera on his laptop. So basically, it's not looking good. |
^^ We need to chip in airfare to bring along highrevs as official event photographer on these outings :).
And we need to get you a terabyte USB drive so you can wrest all this stuff from being hostage on other people's systems. |

I know...if I had a rigid 29er, I could ride those trails so much faster.

Hit Black Oak today, and for the first time since I got the bike, was attacking the trail instead of just "riding" it.
I'm not really sure what was different... but I was looking ahead, fully committing to the turns, getting hard on the power at the apexes and sprinting hard to the next turn, linking sections together... it was just working. Even when I overcooked it a little bit, still managed to find a way to get the bike into the turn, even if it meant a crossed-up slide on entry. Hell, I had a dozen pedalstrikes at the apex, but it didn't seem to matter. Only fly in the ointment: there's a section where the trail Ts put onto an old doubletrack, then drops back into the single track about 2 bike lengths along. A quick right-left. The trail arcs right just before the T, and right at the junction there is a railroad tie sunk into the trail surface. So you have to get the front wheel up over the tie, then damn near stop to make the hard right (which winds up being about 120 degrees because of the way the trail arcs up) roll a bike length, and cut hard left. Not a super tough spot by any stretch, but you do have to be awake. Well, I came ripping up to that turn about twice as fast as normal, and was concentrating too hard on the braking after the tie and not enough on getting the front wheel over the tie. I kinda caught the upper edge and was hard on the front brake. Perfect endo. It actually hung on the balance point for a heartbeat before going over. Tuck and roll, no harm done save a smack on the right knee. 30 seconds of hopping in circles and I was back on the bike. Punchline? Beat my best time by 30 seconds. Would have been minutes without the endo. And yes, had I had the presence of mind to release the front brake, I probably would have rolled out of it. Doh! DG |
Here in Bangalore we have this hill called Turahalli that us mtn biker types love. Killer climb, big boulders on the peak usually hugged by local climbers, and a fairly scary downhill.
Well there are folks who rip it but us n00bs love it while being scared ****less. Problem is that it's too short. http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/5189/1001697r.th.jpg http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/3...c00143v.th.jpg http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/4...00144du.th.jpg |
cold and rainy at pandapas pond, great ride though.
no pictures. pinch flat in the last .25 mile. |
Never - what kind of camera do you use? Whatever it is, great videos! I'm in the market and your camera looks like one I'd like to see in my bag.

^^ GoPro Helmet Hero if I recall correctly.
But there's no proof that it actually works at Sun Peaks or Whistler. |
It's the GoPro Hero HD.
I was at Chris' place this weekend and did see some footage. Nothing overly exciting from Sun Peaks (didn't record the Honey Drop run for some reason) and I only have a day plus one run (when I got the leak near the top and had to cut the morning short) of footage from Whistler. I wish I had some of the last couple Whistler days...I did have some good pinner runs. But don't worry, most of the crashes were there! |
^^ Was just giving you a bad time. Yeah, we needed more time at Sun Peaks to get some good stuff. Would really like to go back and get a full, clean top-to-bottom of Steam Shovel (among others). It had some good flow once you got the timing and rhythm of it.
Haha - - I'm afraid to see what a squirrel I was. Combination of knowing there was a camera back there and forgetting I wasn't on the Blindside any more. |
Except for getting squirrely off of the wall ride, you looked fine. When I get the footage, I'll make you a vid with a Celine Dion song (maybe the one from Titanic?).
|
Finally made it to Landahl. It's a fun stinkin' trail!! (crappy phone pic's...sorry)
