It was a lot of fun, My complaint with the trails around here are they seem to be short.

Aaaaand one more round, just because. It's near 5PM, I'm sitting onthe deck in a pair of boxers and flip flops, finishing my coffee before starting on a beer. All in an attempt to delay getting off my ass and mowing the lawn.
Tank-like SS with a blown out damper cart, oil leaky fork on Dakota? No problem! http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...l/IMG_0024.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../IMG_00642.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ysweatyman.jpg |

Been doing some exploring around Bull/Jake Mountain. Mostly old closed forest roads, but there are some really good singletrack sections scattered around, just gotta look for 'em. Unfortunately, I left my 15mm QR axle on my car when cramming my bike in the back seat & lost it. Waiting on the $45 replacement:mad:
Also, tried out some urban freeriding around campus last week (on the rigid Wahoo...not leaving my nice bike out to be stolen during class). There's a really big set of stairs I had my eye on for a while--3 sets of 18 stairs with 7' flats in between them. Learned the hard way that I suck at urban freeriding, & fell down two of them. Would've had it if I didn't lose my footing after the first 2 or 3 steps:lol: Rear x-mart wheel is totally taco'd, had to carry the bike back to the apartment. On the plus side, I had an awesome story to tell the next class. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=340504 |
Be careful Sam. And good to see you're still at it!

Dumb stuff newbies do:
With an over a decade of no cycling of any sort and not doing anything in a fitness type thing I've been on the back foot with getting into mountain biking, I live in a different town these days so I can't even visit my old trails. So starting with zero fitness, very rusty bike handling skills, no knowledge of local tracks and an old worn out bike has been a challenge. Two months ago I decided to start riding again, My local bike shop wisely helped me to make the cost effective decision to buy a new bike, A K later and I actually wish I'd spent a bit more and got a lighter bike but this bike is what I bought and is doing very well for what I spent, I've had this new bike for 6 weeks now. Last week I Go to do a small near to home track, due to Logging the little track I want to do is closed so I carry on up the steep logging road until I'm knackered, well actually I got to the top of this big hill! Big seance of achievement for me! So I get home and google the name of the track I saw sign posted. Face palm! according to the website another 1/4 hour ride and I would have had an awesome downhill instead of back down the logging road. Dam. Toady, and I'm going to have another crack at this big hill, do the extra 1/4 hour and do the awesome down hill. 7/8th of the way up and I watch a helicopter go past as I'm at a bit of a clearing, Hmm, not often you watch a helicopter go past from a mountain bike, and your looking DOWN at the helicopter! (I started my ride from home, 19 meters above sea level) The so called 1/4 hour easy ride across the ridge line was actually 1/2 an hour of mostly pushing my bike up stuff too steep and too hard for me, and not sure if I'm going the right way, bit of a downer at the time. But the down hill, single track, no chance of getting up speed, to technical, absolutely awesome! could not have hoped for a more fun track! loved every second of it! I'm doing that again! And of course newbies don't bring cameras :( http://www.nelsonmountainbikeclub.or...on-new-zealand With the top of the track being at 720M above sea level, I'm calling my fitness level (officially), wait for it: Above zero! |
well, I planned to ride this weekend butttt......the weather decided no more bikes should be ridden in Boulder. sad.

nice!
I went out with the gf for her first ever trail ride yesterday to ride Marshall Mesa. She was a trooper and killed it. A little nervous for the downhills with the loose dirt but did very well overall. She picked up a Salsa El Mariachi off craigslist recently. |

The gap is only around 2.5' drop and around 4' long. It's not so bad. If the open space wasn't there and it was only a 2.5' drop...most people wouldn't think twice. It's just mental.

Today in Corner Canyon in Draper (SLC), Utah. Absolutely awesome.
Just me and a few snow flakes trying to get a drop on fall. The valley is hidden below by low cloud cover. http://imageshack.us/a/img10/4103/6lgr.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img546/2495/qcnr.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img809/5319/kuej.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img7/8411/pjub.jpg |
