You really had me going there for a minute, scrub. When I first looked at that, I thought holy^%$^%$! because my eye was following this, thinking that somehow it was the line:

El Prieto again today. Made this one gnarly switchback with three steps down on it. Woohoo for me.

Didn't make the next one, however-and went over the bars......at .2 miles an hour.

Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Weather was ideal, low 60's. Great day for a ride.

Two from today. A short local playtime to dial in the 66 a bit more. Looped around a bunch to hit the same drops and rollers between tweaking air settings until I got the feel I wanted. Fork is now smoooooov like buttah.

Larger o-ring on the QR 20mm axle is working to keep the axle from loosening. And removing the IFP from the lower PAR chamber is working much better as well.

The two air chambers were leaking into one another, equalizing pressures - not good. In effect, it now has one large air chamber in the cartridge rather than two. 10psi on the preload/damper side leg, and 40psi on the ATA side and all is well.

Had to escape the damned show around Calgary so we headed out to ther dry conditions of Mt. Swansea, BC.

Didn't look too promising on the drive:

http://members.shaw.ca/ehartman/imag...7/IMGP5560.JPG

But it was hot, dry, and crazy dusty at the mountain. Lots of Calgary riders out there too:
http://members.shaw.ca/ehartman/imag...7/IMGP5561.JPG

The riding was either fast, steep, dusty and slippery or rooty, rocky, and tech. It was my first time at that mountain and it was great fun...especially considering it was the first real shuttling we had done in a long time.

Daggett checking out the views:

Got separated from everyone so we decided to take some riding pics along one of the open sections...

continued...

Turns out Nathan Rennie was riding there as well and we tried to get a couple of pics:

A bit of trail right at the end near the parking lot:

The dust was so fine...and this was minimal compared to some of the other trails:

It's a truck not an SUV...damned Aussies!

But yes, it is a Foes. Had to pull it out of the truck once and it felt like a tank!

When getting back into it after a week, nothing jump starts the skills back up than some riding on loose shale.

That's the going up to the high point of the trail the rest of the trail is smooth dirt with the occasional root garden and creek crossing. Once you get to the slope, it's loose shale, the other half is leaf covered loose shale and shoots you out onto a railroad bed where you cross onto the other half of the trail. Heading back to the trail head is a blast, do it right you'll be able to carry all of that momentum through the creek crossings.

Nice man, look at that lil guy shred!

I ate a fat @ss piece of humble pie tonight. I finally met up with some people on a local forum and went for a ride. Now I have never claimed to be Mountain Bike King, but I was not expecting this. I was dusted by a 50 something woman, and was basically riding with a girl who just had a kid. JUST HAD A KID.

Man, I need to ride a lot more. More. More. More.

Good time though, nice people.

Awesome. He looks like he's having a great, great time. I love his facial impressions.

He is 7. He spends way too much time watching girlscout ride. It never occurs to him that he can't do the same things that girlscout does. Most 1st graders are just trying to figure out how to ride a bike, Jonathan is trying to figure out how to do road gaps and table tops. He is lots of fun.

BFG 05-03-08 07:13 AM

I need to ride again, but ive been so busy these past few weekends. Riding during the week is bigtime out of the question.

Got 2 week holidays coming up soon. Bring on the DH!!!!!!!!!

Trekbro 05-03-08 04:08 PM

mtnbiker66 and girlscout, are you going to the Dark Mountain super D race this Sunday?

66 is sitting here with me in my basement fixing his bullet. He says he is not going to make it to Dark Mountain. He says he will be looking for you on the 31st at the grand opening of the bike park.

Just got in from a good ride with Girlscout and Hambone. I'm bummed, they have turned the best piece of riding in DuPont into a big sidewalk.....RIP Burnt Mtn

Just got back from a ride with Terrapin Ben. He did a good job putting up with the idiot who brought the 'cross bike (me). I wiped out on a gravel switchback on the last descent, looks like I'll have a few new battle scars.

Ben, if you're reading this, go write your paper.

Finally got to ride again these past two days. Did Owls Roost monday and Northeast park today. It was good riding. I do hate the fact that Owls Roost is getting destroyed by little kids on their BMX bikes. I almost ran over a few. Oh well.
