The problem is that my friend is in Germany and wants me and the little redhead to come over there. I don't think she's down for a corner in Never's basement.

We will ride one day D. It'll be the geritol epic DH adventure.

We have a snazzy guest bedroom for you...unless you really want the basement.

So I actually did a trail ride today and I have to say, it did feel good so I think I got that anger out of me finally.

Overlook from atop of a mountain.

A full 180 degree spin.

In the picture below you see that clearing in the distant mountain, I live in between the furthest and middle mountain.

He did and he also quit mountain biking.

The deal fell through. He's back mountain biking.

A small contribution to the RR's ...

Oops, this is a bit longer then I had planned

Well, today was the maiden voyage of The Gambler. I had the Mrs shuttle me up to the RockyPeak trailhead and off I went.

First thing I realized was what a biyatch it is to push a sled up hill in 94* temps with high humidity. The funy thing was I encountered 3 folks walking down one was WITHOUT shoes

Saw to XC guys riding down, one was cool the other well, you know how they can be when we have our ff helmets and gear.

Anyways, I get to the top of Hummingbird, make sure the fork has enough air, that SOME rebound is on the shock and then suit up for the descent.
Since it is a first time ride on a fresh build I also go over all the nuts and bolts before heading down.

Jump on "swooosh" goes the fork, clip in "click click" go the pedals and off I go...

If you are at all familiar with HB, the very beginning (about the first 50yrds) is hardpack, fast and with a couple turns. First thing I notice is the loud ass noise coming from the rear wheel. ERRRRRRR!!! The ONLY screw I did not check was the lower limit screw on the rr derailleur Ok, no need to stop, just stay in second and above.

I get to the top off the first little climb, set the screw and head off again. I must say, the Vivid 5.1 is a very different shock. I am not sure if it was the settings or the rear tires but the bike felt ALL over the place. Well, the rear of the bike was all over the place and it was a combination of shock settings AND rear tire but the front ....

The Delta fork kept the front tire planted firmly and held its line even through the hardest of ruts and saved my arse a few times and never bottomed.

Ok back the the back of the bike ... I had to stop, play with the adjustments on the shock because when I would put just the slightest amount of weight over the front tire in a tight turn with boulders in the middle, the rebound would just about send me OTB and them switch backs are not something I would want to do that on, or should I say OFF.

So I slowed both the beginning and ending stroke rebound down and things calmed down a bit. Not to my liking but good enough that i could finish the ride comfortably. Once I got that settled, the rear tire started swimming/sliding over everything. I tried different psi but nothing worked and if I leaned the bike to much the front would slide as well. It was so bad I could drift any turn at about 5mph which is not all that fast.

Alright, besides the rear sliding around I did notice the Moto V's have mass stopping power. Even on the steepest of sections at higher speeds I never had to pull more then 1/4" to stop, yes stop. If I just wanted to slow down then a very, very light touch was all it took and that is saying a lot with my 280# arse on the bike.

I also noticed the bike is very very loose the way I have it set up and very close to crossing the line to sketchy. The slightest input to the bars and it goes where I want. Toss it around in some flowing switch backs and it rails (as long as you can deal with the drifting).

I did try and launch it off a few boulder, nothing big just something to jump off, and anything under 2' is just soaked up by the suspension. Granted I have it set as a DH bike and not a freeride bike but it was stuck to the ground with super glue. When I would come up to a drop, just a small shift back with the bumm and it floated down and absorbed the hit well.

Well, this turned out MUCH longer then I had planned so here are the only two pics since I was solo ...

Rode down this ...

The girlscout has some sort of diapukeus of the ugag/cold,so I took the VooDoo out for a shakedown ride on Saturday at DuPont State Forest. The VooDoo is one sweet bike. I tried to tell him that he wouldn't like it and he should just let me have it.The steel frame feels a lot better that my alum. hardtail. The steel is heavier but not near as harsh.I hope to come across a nice steel frame to build up soon.
I'll throw up a few pics from the ride........

At the top of Airstrip trail.....

How tall are you/what kinda' TT length are you looking for?

I really like the way the VooDoo Shango fits. Something along those lines.
