Back to basics...

Okay, so any time I do a tune up on my friends bikes I ride them to work the next day to see if they need any fine tuning under power. I rode my friends old Hardrock Sport with Suntour fork that was under sprung, old gripshift drivetrain, bar ends that pointed straight up as if they were saluting General Patton, and don't for get the overall 32 pound weight. (not used to my hardtails weighing this much)

I do scheduled Tuesday and Friday evening rides and today I had to stay at work a little late. I ended up riding directly to the trail instead of going home for my Fisher HKEK, bike related clothing, camelbak, SPD shoes, and helmet.

By the time I got to the trail I had remembered what it was like to bunnyhop without being clipped in and adjusted to the lack of technology. How was my ride? I know you purists wanna hear me say it was the greatest ride I've had in years...not having to worry about how all of my expensive components are handling things and the freedom of nylon flats. Seriously though...it wasn't bad. I still enjoyed myself. I love the trail, there are no two ways about it. I did miss my helmet though.

As for the lack of technology...I'd take my freakin' ZR9000 frame with up-to-date suspension, disc brakes, and SPD's any day. ANY DAY...YA HEAR?

This ride was a wake up call. It really makes me feel lucky to have nice bikes.

Thank the Lord for progressive thinking!!!
