Recon Vs Tora
sooooo im lookin for a new fork, and going through Rock Shox to see what they've got goin on
my question is, whats the difference between the Recons and the Toras? (im looking at the 351s either U-Turn or 100mm Air ones...) 'cause i cant tell much of a difference....
any insight/opinions are great

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.
The difference is that the recon is one step above the tora, the next step over the recon is the Reba, above the reba is the sid.

OP: A fairly obvious difference is the Toras are noticeably heavier.

Tora has no external Floodgate adjustment.
Sid is a step below the Reba in some respects...spindly little fork legs.

im not sure if i'm going to have the money to get a reba, so i was looking a little bit farther down the line. if for some reason i do, i'll dive into looking at those more closely, otherwise it looks like a recon would be my best choice

The difference in feel is negligable if you ask me. Although it is higher up on the totem poll for a reason.
I don't think you can go wrong either way to be honest. But if you have the money, get the recon.

I just picked up an 06 Recon 351 a few weeks ago, and it is sweet! My favorite feature is the poploc remote. Turn on or off the lockout on the fly! Such a sweet feature when you have to ride a distance on the road to get to a trail.

what travel do you run yours at? im looking at getting a fixed 100mm one, but if the U-Turn is really that great i may decide to go for that one actually...

I got the coil version of the recon so adjusting the travel to 100mm was as easy as turning a dial until the markers on the fork for 100mm lined up. 100mm is the maximum travel that fisher says will work with the marlin frame by the way (I emailed them and asked).
