I know its really late to answer this but it is so you can run a rear wheel in the front as well so you have lots of gearing options.

I just picked it up tonight and cant wait to hit the trails tomorrow. The bike is a 2005 Specialized Enduro Comp. Pretty much stock components except for the tires (Panracer Fire XC Pro), Stem (a Sette), Pedals (Shimano SPD), and Bars (Race Face). The guy I bought it from also threw in the original tires, stem, pedals, a computer,a blackburn mini pump, and a shock pump. I'll be putting a different saddle on it (The Titec from my Fisher) and probably throwing on a Bash Ring, also will probably have to put new seals in the rear shock soon and change the brake pads. All in all though I think I got a pretty good deal for $775 (plus it was local so no shipping).

Finally got all the parts in I wanted on there, so I figured pics were due. Single speed is nice. There's nothing to think about, and this bike seems to be perfect for playing around the city and going for a quick ride after work. I think I'll put the studs on this once the ice season hits.
BTW, BB7's feel real nice too. This came stock with Juicy 3s, and they felt like crap.

Looks like a 29 wheel out back. Or a 24 up front.
