I did such a thorough cleaning on everything except the tires. For some reason dirty tires don't really bother me on bikes. I will admit that I did consider getting the Bavarian station wagon's tire cleaner out but that thought lasted about 52.9 seconds.

I did cut the sidewall of one of my tires and am thinking of trying something new so for a short while at least one tire will look new.

Lately it's been spending more time at the DJ's, probably more time there then most of the MTB's here.

Dannihilator 08-21-07 10:49 PM

I couldn't imagine DJing my bike.

Those are some wild rotors.

Dannihilator 08-23-07 06:51 PM

Nice.

Trekbikedude 08-23-07 07:33 PM

hmmm

what kinda rotors are those??

I want some.

Oleanshoebox 08-23-07 09:55 PM

Hope gothics, I think. BTW, thats a lotta xtr for a bike w/ a tora on it, IMO.

FL_MTBR 08-24-07 06:20 AM

Rotors are Alligator Serration rotors... Ultra light!!! Awesome rotors...

The reason for the Tora is that I wanted an adjustable travel (130-90mm) fork with compression, rebound, and lockout.
All the other forks that offered these features were extremely expensive and unreliable...
I'm happy with the Tora U-turn, its a little on the heavy side, but way lighter than my original Judy TT (piece of crap) fork...

This is my first build... I'll upgrade the fork at a later date when I get a new frame...

Both... Some were really expensive...and others were expensive and unreliable...or should I say, high maintenance (parts failing and having to be rebuilt or sent in for service)...

I just couldn't justify spending over $400-$600 on a fork...

How much did you spend on the XTR Drivetrain?

Don't recall... I all bought it off eBay... Definitely less than $700.
Whats wrong with the Tora UTurn...other than its a little on the heavy side?
Its got great reviews...

nothing wrong with it. just trying to better understand your component choice methodology.

I am of the mind to start with a great frame and fork, a solid wheelset, and then build on from there.

You seemed to have focused mainly on the drivetrain, stem and brakes. It is interesting is all.
