I just got in from Burnt. I was gonna get some good trail pics but I stacked it pretty bad early and forgot about taking more pic. They have put in a neat jump section early on the trail, but if you foot unclipps when you pop off the lip and you eat crap it's not so cool. So now my right shoulder is killiong me, my left arm, right hip, right leg and a few other places have a nice bit of trail rash.I had on my new Fox Transition helmet and I rode the Fox emblem on the front for about 10 feet. My glasses cut the bridge of my nose and I tried to bite my tounge off but other than that,I'm golden! The trail is a lot of fun but the changed the bottom and took out the big drop.

Only riding pic I got.........

Hay guise.

Mah parents thought it would be great to change my whole summer on me. Instead of going to Colorado, the Grand Canyon and Moab, I'm going to this. Not that I'm disapointed, but I guilted my parents into firming the plans for a trip to Snowshoe as well. :D Only problem is I have to fly from Raleigh to Seattle myself. Three connecting flights=disaster waiting to happen.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure we (my Dad and I) are going to Pisgah again.

rankin116 06-05-08 08:03 PM

Sorry to hear about the wreck '66, heal quick.

Hambone40 06-05-08 08:12 PM

I hate I missed that ride. It would be nice to see someone wrecking other than myself. Did you hear the Toots riding the trails? I hear that the Toots poached Burnt Mountain several weeks in advance of the opening. Call me tomorrow and let me know how you are feeling. Should be nice and sore.

You know I love you, but I have to add this. At your age, it is nice knowing that tomorrow you will wake up with something stiff for a change.

So does this mean you'll be gone for 21 days? Enjoy it.

I thought you good-ole-boys were glued to NASCAR and would have noticed this.

I'd be really worried about a car painted that way in the "Bump-to-Pass" class .

mtnbiker66 06-06-08 03:10 PM

Well dang, I'm unemployed. The housing maket here has stopped so no work for me right now.

Dang man, that doesn't sound good.

dminor 06-06-08 04:36 PM

I'd been wondering if the slow housing-starts trend was going to hit you. So sorry to hear that.

mtnbiker66 06-06-08 05:02 PM

I'll find something, no worries.

santiago 06-06-08 05:02 PM

I am really sorry to hear that. Hope things turn around very quickly for you.

mtnbiker66 06-06-08 05:03 PM

Lets get back to the fact that I feel like Jens Pulver just beat the hell out of me. The only thing that didn't hurt today was mt feet.

santiago 06-06-08 05:07 PM

were you wearing body armour of sorts?

Don't you mean you feel like Jens Pulver after the Urijah Faber fight?

On a side note, I haven't been on the mountain bike for a long time. I'm doing a charity road ride on Sunday, so I've been on the roadie alot. Get home late today, figure I'll take the mountain bike out for a little ride around town. Well, I think it was pissed at me. I'm close to home, practicing some wheelies, and BAM! On my ass/back/elbow. My elbow is real banged up and missing lots of skin.

Just before it happened, I was thinking to myself "hope I don't get hurt so I can't ride Sunday."

P.S. - Hope you find work soon.

mtnbiker66 06-06-08 05:50 PM

Thanks all on the work symapthy.........now enough of the pity party and put up some pics of that elbow.

santiago 06-06-08 05:53 PM

My 7 year old daughter has a crappy "mountain bike" my dad came home with from a yard sale I think he got for $20. It really is a piece of junk but its BB is high enough for her to roll off of sidewalks. Just yesterday she showed me that instead of rolling off of the sidewalk she can lift her front wheel and can drop it. I was so proud. I may have to get her a proper mountain bike in the not too distant future.

mtnbiker66 06-06-08 05:58 PM

The girlscout started on a 20" 5 speed murray and rode all kind of trails on it. I got it for 10 bucks at a flea market and he sold it for 20 when I got him a 24" Haro.

This bike is a good example of why one should not get a x-mart bike. Wheels out of true, brakes that don't work and wonky shifting. I am not a confident enough wrench to bring this bike back from the living dead and don't feel like bringing it to my LBS to spend money on fixing it. I may just do that though.

Elbow pic, as requested
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3016/...c25b7dec_b.jpg

The lady has the digital camera, so I stopped on the way to her place and got some stuff. That plastic looking crap on top is awesome. Keeps everything moist so it doesn't dry out....but you leak. I was dripping fluid when we went out to eat last night. Kinda gross.

Some other pics I have. These are from some local trails almost right outside my driveway. Problem is, they are short, only about 1 mile from end to end, and are mostly very steep. I think they were made by kids and dirt bikes. Still nice to be able to ride somewhere close though.

This is the Wynantskill. Empties into the Hudson. This is one of three cars in the river in the 1 mile that the trail runs along side it. Nice. Love living in the Troylet.

One more a bit upstream. It's too bad the river is pretty nasty and hidden behind gas stations.

ProFail 06-07-08 10:07 AM

The elbow doesn't look too bad, weenie. :)

What's that clear stuff over it?

rankin116 06-07-08 10:30 AM

It's diffucult to tell, but it is very swollen too. And it hurt. And I am weak like little girl.

The clear stuff is Suresite Window. I read up on it the road forum, supposed to be great for road rash.

Dannihilator 06-07-08 07:01 PM

Was a hot one today, roasted on today's ride, will do so again tomorrow.

BTW, post # 9,000.
