You guys with those crazy Chinooks. I don't know how you deal with the yo-yo weather. I can't stand when it goes above zero here and luckily it only happens about once per month.

We were in Winnipeg last weekend - over the long weekend. Left Winnipeg early Tuesday morning and it was -45 with the windchill...got to Calgary and I worked from home during the day. Had the patio doors open, enjoyed the sunny 9C weather...I can definitely handle that. Too bad I've been too busy with work to get out and enjoy the weather.

I went into the bike shop yesterday with hambone and girlscout. I looked around for a while, looked at some new bikes and I didn't see anything that tempted me at all. I saw a couple of bikes I would like to have but nothing I would trade my bike for. It's a pretty good place for my wallet to be in. I do need a few odds and ends, new cables, new cleats, and that sort of things but thats about it.I just cleaned up my bike and it's not too shabby.I'm still lusting over WheelieMert's Transition.I could see that as my next ride, but it'll be a while..........nice.

I saw a pic of WheelieMert, riding a hardtail I thought. What Transition is he riding?

....and he stays with the white.

mtnbiker66 02-24-08 06:47 PM

You know what ticks me off? Girlscout hasn't been on a bike since the forum ride last fall. We get on caney bottom and he drops me. They cut in some new water breaks that were kinda funky and he was just flowing over them and then he was gone...........I hate groms.

Cheeto 02-24-08 07:09 PM

Sounds like the kid is good.

He's OK, but thats not the point. You young guys can just pick things back up so easy. It gets a little harder whan you're old.

Haha! You're old? Oh, and groms are disgusting.

Banshee Rune, nice. The Aussie Banshee importer, XXIV had a bangin' Rune that they built up as somewhat of a demo bike, and the personal bike of the owner, Ken. Then it got stolen en route to the AMB office.

Yeah, thats the bike that was stolen, im pretty sure it was.

Oh and we groms only have the illusion of skillz. Or atleast i do anyway.
I crash a lot.
Anyway, here's my current desktop:

Thats me doing the pedalling, and how good is the view from where i ride? Off to the left is the best views of the city and 180 degrees behind the photographer is even more great views. Might go take some more photos later.

Feel free everyone to post yours up, maybe someone else might like it. I know im in need of a new MTB related wallpaper. Gogogo!

I'm hearing rumors that some of the tribe are getting restless and looking to migrate to a remote location.............

mtnbiker66 02-28-08 08:12 PM

Way to go dminor, I didn't even get in on the "Help" thread. Thanks a lot.

Seriously, we have so much fun when we let these threads go on, but Doug has become a real square.

I don't know if you're serious or not, but I'll answer anyway. They're snowshoes.

never 02-28-08 10:44 PM

Get a haircut you hippie.

cryptid01 02-28-08 10:52 PM

TGMBG has a zero tolerance policy re: scarves on men.

FYI.

Have you forgotten your time in Hamilton? Scarves are absolutely required under winter conditions.

PS - I have an appointment to cut my hair next week although I won't cut it as short as the pic in my sig.

cryptid01 02-28-08 10:56 PM

Get a balaclava. Dickeys are okay too. Or just grow a beard.

santiago 02-28-08 11:06 PM

I have a balaclava, but I wear it in warmer weather. Besides, I love my scarves. I have a really nice wool one that I wear with my big boy coat.

Is that the coat where the mittens are attached to a cord through the sleeves? :D

OK, you guys lost me - - which thread are we referring to? (remember, I'm old and easily bewildered)

I know why he closed it. This is exactly how the infamous Dminor Affair thread started.

C Law 02-29-08 08:28 AM

It was my fault. I was way too harsh

born2bahick 02-29-08 10:11 AM

Hey Santiago, How good of a skater do you have to be, to shovel snow in them? (skates)

OK, that one. I closed that one on the advice of another mod.

I'm sure the jury's still out on my moderating skillz; I tend probably to be too laissez-faire about things and chime in when I should be locking or trashing things. Then Smashy has to wade in and restore order. Ah well - - I warned them; they knew what they were getting when they signed me up :D.

An average skater I suppose given that I consider myself average. I didn't grow up playing hockey like a lot of my friends and didn't take lessons as a kid. Lessons are fantastic though. My daughters are in their first season of lessons and are already showing signs of being better skaters than me. Last year we started them skating by going to outdoor rinks such as these. This year we've seen a huge improvement. I am not exagerating when I write that expect them to be much better than me by the time they are 8.
