It was at a youth Presbyterian jebuz camp called Montreat near some place called (I think) Black Rock (I wanna say it was around 45 minutes to near edge of Pisgah), and I did see a few true mountain bikers on the campus of the camp (I'd assume there were some trails near by because they were all clearly riding back to their cars after a ride rather then just riding around). I think next year I'll try to talk some people into going a week or so early for riding.

Leaving at 5 tomorrow for two or so weeks in CO. Sounds like we're renting one of the new 4 door jeeps which should have room for a bike, so. . . Shuttled 4X4 road DHing is in my future :)

Montreat is in Black Mountain NC. There are some good trails in that area.

I am building up a Jamis exile SS 2007 model (maybe you have seen my picture book thread) and i ordered the wrong BB to go with the cranks i have. I now know i need a ISIS BB with english threads. The one i ordered has a 73mm shell and fits but from what i have read i should be using a 68mm shell, which one do i get?

99FOXs 07-28-09 02:27 PM

Getting ready to take my nephew out for his first ride. He's 8 and he live's with his mom and 2 sisters. He's gone through a hard time in the last year or so(mom and dad divorce) so it'll be good to get him out away from the girls. He's carrying a few extra pounds so I hope this isn't too hard for him. We're gonna do a few miles of gravel roads to check out some water falls. Thanks to Hambone for loaning me a 20" Scott. I'll try to get some pics.

Hambone40 08-01-09 09:45 PM

I hope he didn't drop you.

Why haven't they tried to make a Hydro shifting system?
eliminate cables for once and for all!

I don't think it would be that hard to engineer a hydro derailleur system. The hydro would have no problem pushing, and with the spring on derailleurs, they would return up no problem.
?
discuss?

Old topic, Cheeto...its been proto'd

ive only been Mtb'n for little over a year lol.

born2bahick 08-02-09 07:20 PM

So You missed the electronic shifting too?

dminor 08-02-09 09:42 PM

. . . and Shimano Airlines.

Largest problem I would see, cheeto, is to make the reverse-valving seamless. There would have to be ratcheting, positive pressure both ways (no return springs); so the reversing valve would have to actuate instantly when an upshift or downshift lever was engaged. On second thought, I suppose it could be a single-acting system with return springs; but where would that get you other than you eliminated a very simple, efficient cable?

I vote for CVT.

I see your point.

I was just mad at cables lol. The cable on my trek, that I'm trying to piece together frayed up pretty good the other day.
(the cable end thing had fallen off)

May I ask what is CVT?

LOL B2B, yea, I missed the Electro shifting also.

mzeffex 08-03-09 09:57 AM

Not MTN Bike related, but my Dad got awarded a Bronze Star for his actions while he was in the Middle East.

You may! Although I think this guy is snubbing us. He's probably not willing to waste good ride time on HACX like us.:)

Not snubbing. I don't have internet set up yet so I have been really slow at getting replies. ATT is being ****bags and the DSL is not being fed though the lines like they said it was. Ride soon though.
