Down! Half way up! Down! Halfway up! UP! Down UP! ONE!

BFG 02-22-08 01:33 AM

You could mount a bottle on the headtube.

Cheeto 02-22-08 08:59 AM

I bet the steerer is insanley long

That's all I could look at on the bike! I have a short attention span.

Cheeto 02-22-08 11:31 AM

Next he'll want a over sized full suspension bike.
It'd have like 15 inches of travel

rankin116 02-22-08 06:48 PM

Of all the bikes, why did Yao Ming (or is it Ming Yao?) end up with a Gunnar? I'd never heard of those until I saw that guy's on here (Scelia?). I'm just surprised he didn't go with one of the bigger, more well know companies. Any chance Gunnar is out of Houston, or Texas somewhere?

They aren't entirely unheard of. I knew the brand before Scelia came. I think they're known for steel hardtails.

But if you think about it, choosing a smaller company makes sense. These big companies that mass produce frames would probably charge more for a custom frame as opposed to perhaps the folks at Independent Fabrications.

Pretty good points. I wonder if he actually paid for it though.

doubtful...

"OMG! Yao Ming is riding a Gunnar. That must mean Gunnars are good bikes right? Mommy! I want one!"

Wrong! To quote you, it's all in your head. Go snowshoeing, XC skiing, sledding, whatever. Just go out and enjoy it.

never 02-22-08 08:58 PM

Or find a decent descent...8" will be no problem with some momentum.

Actually I did have some fun with the snow.

Had another crap load of snow since then.

Kind of a shame though was dodging big accumulations of snow for the whole season until today.

santiago 02-22-08 09:24 PM

Nice! Looks very mild, too. To get a good snowman like that you need sticky snow and you only get sticky snow if it's mild. "Mild" is obviously a relative term but to me that looks like a relatively warm day.

Cheeto 02-22-08 09:57 PM

Man, I do enjoy not having to shovel snow anymore... My shoulder is actually starting to not hurt as much as it used to.

BFG 02-23-08 02:51 AM

Ha, looks like the steerer is longer than the stanchions/blades/whatever you want to call them.

C Law 02-23-08 08:00 AM

We finally got some snow and ice here this winter. Broke out the 294's yesterday and had a blast.

looking forward to going for a long ride sunday with them.

mtnbiker66 02-23-08 08:33 AM

Our biggest snow lasted about a week. It's gonna be about 65 today. Hambone and I are going out for a ride in an hour or so.

Cheeto 02-23-08 10:00 AM

We have a beautiful, sunny and mild day here. It's -5C. I think that's like -235235092 Fahrenheit.

I took my daughters to their skating lessons this morning and we'll be going out for a family skate on an outdoor rink this afternoon. Tomorrow we're planning on going snowshoeing.

We got whacked with snow yesterday. Only the third (I think) storm this year. It dropped enough on my area, though. I was starting to taste spring. So much for that.

Cheeto 02-23-08 06:02 PM

I went riding, today, and snapped the bolt that holds my saddle to the seat post.
THAT FREAKING HURT!
I had to finish the 5 mile loop standing up, holding on to a seat!

Cyclist30907654 02-23-08 06:29 PM

Why would Specialized design the Hardrock so the cables are on the bottom of the downtube so they get gunked up everytime I ride?

WHY, SPECIALIZED, WHY?

Cheeto 02-23-08 06:51 PM

Thats the only downside to that Bike, Other than that I think it's rather decent

On Thursday, it hit +16C in my part of the city. It hit 6C today and it's supposed to snow tomorrow...gotta love Calgary weather!
