Its good. If you don't mind spinning to the top. You get out of the saddle and hammer on a 7" bike it likes to go boing.

Are the bearings for the linkages expensive?

mtnbiker66 07-28-08 06:54 PM

It only has Pivot bearing(single pivot). The rest are just shock bushings.

Luke52 07-29-08 12:22 AM

around about $350 away from a new bike :D

That's only about 2-3 more shifts at work :P

Should have it next month in that case!

BFG 07-29-08 06:04 AM

First race on the 'Horse this weekend. Really excited.

I am also making a purchase of some secondhand pedals. Clipless pedals. Won't be racing them though.

Luke52 07-29-08 03:32 PM

$241.35 left after yesterday's pay :D

Thanks man. I'm so excited. It's going to be bucketing down with rain. I've also never ridden there, so I can't wait.

I've become a real sock *****. I got my copy of Seasons and a pair of socks in the mail today. I really like the socks. I'll watch the movie in a bit and am sure I'll like it as well. Actually, I think I'll wait until tomorrow so that I can watch it with my daughters.

No, No it doesn't.

Although, it feels kinda good..

Only a month or so into my first job, and actually saving towards something which I want provides a satisfying, accomplishing feeling.

Good luck - - pin it, man.

BFG 08-05-08 08:39 AM

Thanks for the luck D.
I actually thought of that post during practice. My weekend was great - see that Ride Reports thread for pictures.

I do however need goggles, then elbow armour or a pressure suit if I'm lucky, and then some nice riding kit.

dminor 08-05-08 09:36 AM

^^ For goggles, check out Dirty Dog - - one of your home-grown brands. I have two pair of Moto-X 1s and have been happy with them; the new Moto-X 3s look awesome.

. . . and I would have a Pressure Suit for sale - - IF SixSixOne could ever ship my Pro PS I ordered back in March :notamused:.

Has anyone heard from dkdunn lately? He's our military biker serving in Iraq. He got that new bike and posted it up in May. I don't think he's posted since then.I hope all is well with him.

Guess who has to build the fisher back up?

All due to some scuzzbag bike thief, stealing the dmr frame, so I am a bit lucky I had taken a good chunk of the parts off the bike in order to do some maintenance to.

Some dirtbag stole Hambone's Hardrock SS a couple of weeks ago. It sucks hard.

Did he leave it on the side of the garage?

mtnbiker66 08-06-08 09:05 PM

Somone took it from outside of his school. The folks that lockup after school put the bikes away and his was left out by mistake so someone took it.

BFG 08-07-08 08:49 AM

Smashy I laughed when I read that you built up the Fisher, but then stopped when I read that it was because the DMR frame was stolen. Scumbags. What was on the frame? Headset/BB?

Dannihilator 08-07-08 06:58 PM

Chris King headset without the crown race, thomson seat post and a worn out fsa external bb.

If you find the scum that stole your bike... tell him I could use the seat post but only if it's a 27.2 x 250+.

Dannihilator 08-07-08 07:23 PM

It's not that big.

I was reading the which "clipless and why" thread and I got to thinking..... After years of riding clipless pretty much all the time I'm now running platforms on my bikes. I went out for a ride yesterday running my Time pedals and about 6 miles in my knee starts giving me problems again. When I got home I ditched the clipless and went with a set of platforms. Now when I ride with my old Vans/flats setup,no problems. I am finding that I am just more comfortable riding on flats now days.

born2bahick 08-08-08 10:27 AM

I keep flats on an old GF Tass, I've got in the garage. When I first started riding I really needed the extra benifits that clipless can give. But now I notice I can ride the flats almost as efficiently.

'66 and you other platform riders: Your feet dont slip off the pedals when you go over some rougher stuff at a higher speed? Ive got scars on both legs where a foot slipped either forwards or backwards and caught a pedal or the large chainring in the front. Not trying to start an argument here, im just wondering if this happens to other people too.

Ive since switched to clipless and dont suffer from this anymore.

I used to when I ran crappy, cheap platforms and/or the wrong footwear. I've upgraded myself over the years to MTB-specific platform-pedal shoes with tacky soles and aggressive (Syncros Mental) pedals and have enjoyed traction that rivals the feeling of being clipped in.
