15 degrees? You planning on camping in the tropics?

I'm a bit torn now dude. I had asked for a rigid fork for the crapper for Christmas...I got a fat wad of cash instead. I'm considering getting

1. MarzXC600
2. Rigid Instigator fork
3. leaving the Mag21 on the crapper alone and getting a GD post for the Komodo. (leaning this way)

Hmmm...:innocent:

born2bahick 12-26-08 10:31 AM

I say GD post. Pick up a rigid fork off Ebay, when you get a good buy!

theextremist04 12-27-08 04:36 PM

get the GD. or else.

Been out in the woods but not on the bike. The Hambone and I just got out of Middle Prong Wilderness. Cold wind,Coyote's howling, shooting stars and frozen boots.........good times.

looks like fun!!

anyways...

my friend got me some Jagwire v-brakes (pads) and a new Maxxis Highroller tire!!

So now im wondering, should i put the highrollers up front, and my Bontrager ACX's on the back?

I feel that the highrollers have more traction, and can corner better than the ACX's...

Think I've seen the highroller on the front of a few bike here on the forum.

S.D.XC 01-04-09 06:39 AM

ok....but more feedback would be appreciated... :)

ca7erham 01-04-09 08:05 AM

More traction up front than out back is what most people do. When your rear starts to slide, it is very easy to recover, but when your front starts to go, you have more of a problem. Not impossible to recover, but harder.

S.D.XC 01-04-09 09:36 AM

hmmm....thanks....i'll switch it now... :D

Luke52 01-05-09 02:09 AM

Ahh crap.

I need new grips put on my bike, but my LBS is closed for 2 more weeks =\

Dannihilator 01-07-09 07:01 PM

Looks like I'll be riding only the mtb this year, had a crash on the pista today and watched the pista get run over.

ca7erham 01-07-09 07:10 PM

Ouch, that sounds brutal. You ok?

ed 01-07-09 07:14 PM

Dang man! Was it "their" fault? Can you get it replaced?

Sux.

Dannihilator 01-07-09 07:14 PM

I'm fine, just sore and need to get a new coat. Hit a patch of black ice and it went too quickly for me to catch it, the truck that ran over it was just an innocent bystander. It's all my fault, bike's totaled and I don't think I'm going to go right out and get another one, maybe in the fall.

My condolences about the bike. The important thing is your ok. Could of been you getting run over. Must have been freaky watching that nice bike getting trashed...

Awe crap! At least you're not hurt.
Building up something cheapie from used stuff and whatever is salvagable from the Pista an option?

How totaled is your totaled?

Dannihilator 01-09-09 09:24 PM

It's not been a kind Wednesday or Thursday for me.

The rear stays are crushed, Was able to salvage the the bars, fork and stem and front wheel and seatpost and the flite wasn't on there when this happened had a junker on there for the winter months. Did get a new(to me) frame, it's another pista frame, from 2006, structure wise it's sound, but it needs a lot of work cosmetically. Going to be doing it up in the same color scheme. Once I do alot of work cleaning up the frame.

Today was good though, did get a bit of riding in today, just doing some urban type stuff.

Dannihilator 01-09-09 09:32 PM

It's not worth posting in the ride reports, but, it really felt good to just do something fun and managed to get a photo from a video of it.

Hey, so long as you had fun, right?

Sounds like you'll be alright Pista-wise - just need a new rear wheel/drivetrain setup now?

Dannihilator 01-09-09 09:49 PM

Yep, I normally don't do urban riding unless I don't have enough time for a trail ride..

Just rear wheel and drivetrain, which was due for replacement anyways.
