That is beautiful! Synchronized BMX park and skatepark at it's finest!

z415 12-06-08 12:16 AM

Looks like the skater got an earful of bar end plug.

ed 12-06-08 12:17 AM

Park bikes don't have plugs. They leave them hollow to suck the brains out of their prey.

Tell me what ya think. I had nothing better to do, so I was screwing around with my dad's SLR (I cant remember what lense I was using). Other than rotating the pic, not edited at all (I'm not clear 100% on using photoshop). I took a couple of others, but I'm not sure where I put them. The fat one is not our dog, but we're watching it.

I like the framing of the first one - the way youve captured the head and his (he or she?) trailing torso, or at least it appears that way. Very nice.

She is a crazy fat husky.

My daughter wanted a new Bull Terrier puppy for christmas so we picked it up today. No name yet but trouble might fit well.If she's anything like my bully Sara she'll be into just about everything.

Those dogs look awesome..Love the shape of the head.

So Ive got a very noob question. I usually ride alone so Ive had no witnesses to this embarrassment. I have a lot of trouble getting over big logs that don't have ramps (usually made out of smaller logs) in front of them to help get the rear wheel over with out catching the big ring. Some of these logs are 1-2feet high though.. anyone.. have any suggestions?

The begginng of this youtube video perfectly illustrates my question.. and my experiences with getting over big logs..

1. front wheel up on the log. stop -> brief trackstand ->lurch/lunge the back wheel up and onto the log. while throwing the front out/down off the log. roll on down and off. the idea is to do it quickly enough that you don't nail your ring on the log, obviously.

2. learn to bunny or j-hop over the entire thing.

3. ditch your large ring for a bashring and don't worry about whether you nail it on the log or not.

all three ways, you've got to be smooth with transfering your weight back and forth. jerky/hesitant stuff will mess you up more than anything else. find something that is a size you can do, and work on those to get them smooth/dialed. then go up a few inches. repeat.

my riding style incorporates a hacktastic blend of all three. attempts at the hopping smoothly over thing i usually reserve for less than a foot high, unless feeling particularly smoove at the time.

Or get the big ring protector and destroy that damn log.

Would BB7s be better than Deore Hydros?

BFG 12-09-08 02:44 AM

Trail dog in the making IMO.

^^^^
Last sunday when I was with a group getting footage, one of the guys had a rottweiler. Really nice dog, but it got really mad and would try to eat your tires if you stopped.

Pic of one of my cats. This is what I get for leaving my shoes on the floor.

thought this might not fit as a thread...so here it is...

I might try running BB7's on my 3900 (front)...

What hubs and axle (front) would fit nicely for them? Would it fit my Matrix 550 rims?

Sorry im new to this field...

ca7erham 12-12-08 02:23 PM

Depends if you have a disc compatible front hub.

S.D.XC 12-15-08 08:41 AM

that's why i said What hubs and axle (front) would fit nicely for them?

my hubs aren't disc compatibile...

Sorry, what I meant was be sure you dont already have disc hubs.

S.D.XC 12-16-08 06:47 AM

ok.

Anyone know of a good bashguard I can put on my crankset, without losing my big ring?

Big ring is a 42T.

depending on what you get, you'll need some longer chainring bolts and bolt spacers to space it out far enough to be able to use said big ring. obviously you'll also be decreasing your large ring clearance over obstacles, which may or may not be an issue where and how you ride.

Thanks man, I'll take a look around :)

ca7erham 12-16-08 08:55 PM

Here is the 4 bolt like you need, for a much lower price. I have one, and I love it. The only problem is that the the receiving bolt(I guess the backing bolt) didnt fit the longer bolts that came with the guard. I got the correct bolts for like 2 bucks at my LBS. But as long as you dont have an ISO Flow crankset, you should be fine.

http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/133...-Bashguard.htm

EDIT: Just looked closer at your pic, looks like you have an ISO Flow, but thats an easy fix.

Luke52 12-16-08 10:51 PM

Hah, yeah it's an ISOflow :(

ca7erham 12-17-08 06:48 AM

Yeah, but your LBS should have the right bolts. the ones on the ISOflow are slightly larger than most, but if you get standard size (4mm?) the adapter bolts work fine.

ca7erham 12-18-08 04:45 PM

Yeah! I just got my bike weighed (and 15 or so PSI more in my fork); 30.5(2) pounds with lower end components and a heavy bash guard. Some might find that heavy, but I'm quite happy with it.

I know this isn't mountain bike related but i thought this shot was awesome.

It's part of a series from the Boston Globe, 2008 in pictures.
