Woo!! I got a car. Well, actually my dad's old car became mine (that lucky fool got a 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport). Its a 2001 honda CR-V, so not the most exciting thing, but at least its a 5 speed, and its hard to argue with free stuff.

Oh...nope. I have 175's on everything but the roadie...and I hardly ever ride it.

mzeffex 10-11-09 06:41 AM

Gettin' out for a ride today. Third week in a row. This makes me happy. The first ride was almost 4 months ago, then a 3 month break in between, and now every week. Much bettah.

ca7erham 10-13-09 03:48 PM

Mmmm, smells like new crankset...

craigcraigcraig 10-14-09 09:05 AM

off to school then to the bike coop to finish my bike! pictures to come soon.

mzeffex 10-14-09 05:04 PM

My full face came in the mail today. Are they supposed to feel tight on your cheek bones?

dminor 10-14-09 10:13 PM

Some do, some don't. All depends on the helmet and the shape of your head/face. Full faces vary widely for fit.

Hey…ever tried glucosamine sulfate for the knees? I had knee surgery back a few years ago and still have issues in both knees at times. When I first got on the bike this spring, a doctor friend told me about the glucosamine sulfate and I took it for a few weeks and noticed my knees weren’t bothering me as much. I ran out and stopped taking it for a few weeks and started noticing knee pain again. I have been taking it ever since. You can get it at any health food, grocery, etc. Usually in the vitamin sections…takes a couple of weeks to notice a change.

ed 10-15-09 11:55 AM

Yeah...my PT/AT friends in KCK have been hounding me to take glucosamine chondroitin.

dminor 10-15-09 12:00 PM

^^ Costco sells industrial barrel-size bottles of it reasonably. Higher mg count that many other brands too.

I kind of thought the price was to good to be true (at the time I ordered, the cheapest I could find was 205$ but I think it can now be found for 175ish), but being the cheapo I am, I went ahead and got it after calling and asking a few in depth questions about the crankset, and something else. Took 2 weeks to ship, but it did get here, and I installed it, and its good. The whole thing (including BB and packaging) is lighter than just the drive side half of my last crankset (which was a square taper).

My LBS had to shut down recently so from what i have heard they are having huge sales which makes sense. However, I have tried to go by and the doors are locked and lights are not on and no one answers the phone so i got the guy who owns it cell phone number and want to call and ask about helmets and a couple other things but not sure if that is an acceptable thing since he was not the one to give me his number. My friends dad bought a bike from there and gave it to me. what do you think? Call and ask away just tell him how i got his personal number? Keep trying the shop since someone has to be there at some point?

ca7erham 10-24-09 08:03 PM

Anyone been watching the pinkbike NWD's? 6 is on now.

BFG 10-26-09 03:01 AM

So uh both my DH bike + my hardtail have been stolen.

I give up, im at my fricken wits end. Somebody, somewhere, does not want me to ride bikes.

ed 10-26-09 06:15 AM

Dang man! Now you're going to get pelted with "do you lock them up?" sorta questions...so do ya?

I do, but they were in peices, stripped to components for rebuilding. Id just stripped the frame, was waiting on new fork seals etc.

=[

BFG 10-26-09 07:08 AM

Meaning theres absolutely 0 chance of getting it back in the same way i did the hardtail last time.

craigcraigcraig 10-26-09 08:55 AM

but they have your intials on the right like the hardtail did? i think it would be hard to build up a frame like that and sell it. That stinks though, hope something good comes of it.

kenhill3 10-26-09 12:01 PM

Absolute suckatration, BFG!

Getting your HT stolen the first time was bad enough. Now this.

I hope the perps get strung up and eviscerated.

mzeffex 10-26-09 04:34 PM

Pic of your cycle computer or it didn't happen.

craigcraigcraig 10-26-09 05:26 PM

meaning he hit 36 mph just was double because the two magnets.

Hrmmm decisions decisions. I can stay here in Dallas TX, move to Austin TX, and now I have an offer to move to around Seattle. I have always lived in Texas and love the chilly rainy weather and am an extremely outdoors type person this is a hard choice!

Daspydyr 10-26-09 08:23 PM

If you have homeowners or renters insurance, turn in a claim. Even if it was a pile of bike at the time, it is personal property. It will be subject to your deductible, but you can get restart funds coming your way. I hope your have some insurance. If they say, It aint covered, ask the magic phrase, Show me in the policy where it isn't covered. You wouldn't believe how that phrase opens the checkbook.

HOPEFULLY, you got some insurance. If not, sorry, sound like something you might consider.

I'm gonna start a thread tonight about Bike Insurance. I tend to ramble. I'll try to get organized.
