NOS Manitou Black Comp in 100mm.

Yes, it's the beginning of the end, I own a manitou fork. Scary thing is I think it rides better than my 2008 talas ever did.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

Good lineage, good contract manufacturer and good new owner - - how can ya go wrong?

I have already managed to put a scratch on the bottom of the arch, which isn't anything to worry about, but hey, I no longer have to worry about scratching it.

They only Manitou I ever ran was a temp fork borrowed from a friend. The tire rubbed on the bottom of the crown under heavy compression.

When I hit a drop the fork compressed so much that the tire would rub on the crown. It kind of sucked. I was worried that I would hit a big drop and the fork would stuff the tire so hard it would stop and I'd go over the bars.

I think it was mostly because it was a 8 year old fork with a spring that was probably to soft not because it was a Manitou. I am actually considering getting a Manitou.

So the lowers compressed? Your wheel moved up and down in the dropouts? I think I'm missing something.

I'm personally thinking about a Minute 29er. Stiffer than the old Reba, cheaper than the 09, and I like the platform adjust. Maybe in the spring.

I've heard this U.L. before...only it was a guy with a hook that got stuck in the car door at the lake at night...hehe.

I wonder if it was spoke/rim flexing outta whack. The lowers wouldn't compress enough for you to rub unless there was .000001 clearance.

The fork compressed like normal but it let compress so much that the tire touched the bottom of the crown.

It was kind of a fork like this.
