roadie got his first mtb
been thinking of gettin one for a while. a few days ago i finlly got one. spent more then i wanted to on one but i got a specialized rock hopper comp disc. cant wait to ride it to some serious trails. maybe a race or so this fall/winter

if i wasnt sitting here staring at my bike id say you stole it from me, well sorta, mines not so new.
im also a roadie that just got the first real mtb, its worked out pretty well so far, havent gotten to any trails yet, but hopefully after i get school work cleared this week.

Enjoy! I was the opposite - I started on a $100 mtn bike used , and switched into triathlon/road biking.
I was surprised at how strong I was relative to the "serious" roadies and triguys. Mtn biking definitely equips you well for road hills as well as bike handling. Hills the roadies were calling "steep" were easy-moderate for a mtn bike climber - in my book, if you're not required to use the climbing bars, it's not THAT steep!
Roadies can be strong as all heck, though. They seem to be quite obsessive about their racing and thus training.

Uhhh...save the bottle cages for the roadie and make them carbon. For a mountain bike you need a camelbak. If you don't have one all the other kids will point, laugh and call you funny names.
