2004 Kona Dawg

Hey everyone, quick question. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2004 Kona dawg for 400 bucks that is in good shape. Race Face Deus crank, King headset, Bontrager stem and bar, Thomsom post, Hayes HFX hydraulics, LX shifters, Mavic 321 wheelset with shimano hubs, Crank Bros, Rock Shock Recon fork, and a Fox RP2 shock. Is this a good price, and is it worth abandoning my 2007 Rockhopper for? What do you guys think? I will be using the bike for XC racing and endurance events.

I have a kona dawg and really like it. I think the 04 dawg has 4" of rear suspension, not 5". FYI.

Awesome deal, but I wouldn't abandon the rockhopper if you're doing mainly XC. If there was some way to keep both you could try it for XC type stuff, I just can't imagine you'd get the same climbing efficiency out of a full suspension.... which wouldn't with endurance either.

That being said, it really is an awesome deal.

True, you'd probably have a heavier bike than the rockhopper. The propedal feature of the fox rear shock should keep you climbing efficiently though. The overall level of components on that bike is nice, much better than all but the top end rockhoppers.

Would 3-5 lbs. really make that much of a difference in speed? here is a picture of the bike
