It's wrong even if you make it they're.

I think the best would still be 'there are'.

And the thread title should be Y'all's then!!

It's..

"It is" war now S.D.XC.

My 3900 will eat your 3900...
muhahahhaha

I still haven't made it back to the Kona dealer... (we are now living off base, and only 1 car, so I can't just get up and go...)
I'll report back with some news of what they've got/how the are when I get there.

That Chameleon is a bit over priced.

Don't limit yourself to just the car. Most German cities are quite bike friendly, and most have pretty decent bus and train options.

IMO you'll have a much better time over there getting out and exploring rather than sitting around at school or at home.

I can't catch public transportation to get on/off base.
My bike is also still over the Atlantic ocean some where, lol
That's my dilemma.
Thanks for the price warnings,
I really don't want to jump over 800 USD (thats about all my parents will let me spend... even though it's my cash lol)

I gotta' ask: why not? You live off base, right? Sure, public trans won't take you on/off base, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to take it pretty close to and from, and around the rest of wherever you are? It's usually pretty cheap and easy.

I spent a year Between Berlin and Landau (near Karlsruhe) and had a kick-ass time getting around by bike, train, and bus.

There's no bus stops close by the gates, cause the base owns the land all around the gates as well, I'm at the nearest town, and its still about a ten min drive.

I'll get there, next time I got the car I'll swing by lol.

I'm just not use to public transit.. besides school bus, I've never riden city buses, trains, even taxis lol

Seriously, go check it out. You'll be able to get around very easily, and cheaply, and not have to depend on trying to get the car.

I think that boy forgot what feet are for.

If you really don't like walking that much, get yourself a unicycle. You can cruise at most folks' jogging speed, they take up no more of a footprint on the sidewalk as walking and it would be easy to pack along with you riding the public transportation. Win/win/win.

Not allowed to walk on the Autobahn.

No bikes, (including unicycles) or walking allowed.
I take the autobahn to get to and from.
The vehicles on the autobahn must be able to maintain a speed of 60 KPH or more lol

Honestly, I'd love to get out and just go, but I don't have any Euros right now, and there no bus that runs to my destination (or close to it) lol.

I'll post back when I get to the bike store, I'll take note of the bikes, and specs and prices and ask for opinions.

Thanks

OK!

I talked to my Gym Coach who is an Olympic Athlete Trainer, and seems to be an avid biker (he has a SWEEEEEEET Cannondale (roadbike) in his office)

He told me to stay away from the on base shop, as they are very overpriced.

This is the store to go to he said, It's nearby in another town, I just have to figure out where (waiting for my GPS to arrive)

He said the guy speaks English, and his store consists of two barns, he said it is HUGE

im pretty sure MY 3900 can 'eat' YOUR 3900!!

Reasons :
1. It hasn't been be done for anything overkill for the bike.
2. My bike chew's dirt definitely better than yours, so it's also logically better at chewing 'YOUR BIKE'!!
3. Your bike's somewhere in the Atlantic, which means, if you don't appear on-time for the bike-eat-bike match, it's an automatic disqualification / you're out!!
4. Bikes dont have mouths...

Since there are so many responding, this should really be plural -- "All Y'all!"

Um, duh, I didn't mean use the phrase book while driving...

Yes, well a few phrases is far different than being able to tell a shopkeeper what you want, or being conversationally fluent.

No, not determined to flame you at all. I find it fascinating that you are a young kid in a foreign county who is seemingly making no effort to get out and explore around. It sorta' boggles my mind. You have an opportunity relatively few people in the world have, and IMO, you ought to take as much advantage of it as you can.

I spent a year in Germany in High school, and went/did as much as my free time and budget would allow, rather than sitting around moping about what I couldn't do.

I'm getting out, and exploring, But I dont have far to go,
I have parental restictions =/
We move in this week, so I'll have the GPS, which in turn gives me a longer leash from the parents.

The bike shop owner Sprechen Englisch.

Work on loosening them.

Something about a little bit of german and learning lol
Your german is bad now, you dont need it often.
you where in berlin for 6 months, and landau near karlsruhe 6 months after. You where 15 when the berlin wall fell down (old man... haha)

about the gift of good beer--

I'm not a beer drinker, and howver im 17 and old enough to go around clubbing, I choose not to.

I've turned down many kids at school trying to get me out, since I can drive.

not happening.

I was there when fifteen, and the wall came down. Good times, good times.

You don't have to go drinking to have a good time and explore; that wasn't at all my implication.

With no car/ability to drive anyhow, getting around by bike/bus/train was the only way to go anywhere. The Germans (in my experience) make doing so pretty easy.

I'll give them credit, there are indeed a lot of buses, but they are not allowed to get to close to the bases I guess, because there aint many bus stops close by.
We got both vehicles now, so I have a little more freedom, and this Wednesday we move into our house.
Things should start to unfold and become better lol.

-already got a prom date, haha

They only pay for one to be shipped,
so yes, they reimbursed us, but it still gets shipped commercially, so we had to wait forever for it to get here.

Tax dollars at work? I think that's the least they can do for the men and women of the service, they put up with enough crap as it is.
I guess I shouldn't tell you that they're also paying for the Hotel we're in because they couldn't house us on base.
