New Moto 29er Fly Ti

never 02-28-10 11:32 AM

Helped a friend move yesterday and he gave this to me. I didn't even know he had it...it was stashed underneath his deck.

Early 90's M2 Stumpjumper that is in excellent shape. I just need to give it a good cleaning and a quick tune. I think I'll use it as my cold weather commuter for now.

Here's a better picture. I cut the quill to threadless adapter down about 1.5" and rigged the rear up for single speed right now. I am still waiting on some bmx cruiser bars adn then I am going to probably hook back up the rear derailleur. Let me know what you guys think, this is my first project like this.

The tires are nothing to brag about and probably are not ideal for what I'm using them for (street and park riding), until things dry up enough for my normal tires, they'll do.

That's cool, I'm ok with weird. The bars are a little out of proportion since they are bmx high bars with a rise of 8" and a width of 28". I'm getting something with a rise of about 4" or 5" and a width of 24" or 26" so hopefully it will look a little more proportional after that.

The trail conditions are sloppy crap around me right now, so... Building and tweaking time. My inner weight weenie is showing. Here's to dry trails and lift season coming soon! About as light as either is going to get, without making some unacceptable (for me) parts choices/compromises, or spending stupid amounts of cash/more cash than I'm willing to.

Minion DHF 2.35 in back, Nevegal 2.35 DTC up front - a tire combo that is stupid amounts of fun on my trails. Not fast rolling by any stretch, but I don't really give a rat's ass. The dropper post adds a good chunk of weight, but is something that sees a lot of use, so isn't going anywhere. Burly enough for me and mine.

Minion 2.35/2.5/DH tire combo, so no weight weenie tires were harmed in the making of this bike. Fun, fun, can't wait for Diablo and Platty to open back up!

Your bikes rock, Scrub. I hate how the first weighs less than my hardtail with weight concious XT components.

And Dan - it's looking good.

ed 03-02-10 09:10 AM

That's funny Scrub...I think my HT weighs a couple lbs more than your Marq.

4evrplan 03-02-10 10:22 AM

Yes amazing... It weighs less than my HT with Tourney components

After a week of shopping I brought home my first mountain bike tonight. I think I got a good deal, it's a Novara Bonanza that was discounted by $200 down to $399 because it was last years model. I can't wait to start riding!
