and actually get a real mountain bike and ditch the silly dirt jumper or whatever that bike has evolved into over the last few years. That Fisher fat possum or whatever the hell it was you had a few years back was nice, lets see a real MTB bike come Dec.

That fisher was the reason why I got burned out from mtb's. Riding XC on it just got extremely boring which made me burn out, it was a blessing for me when that frame cracked.

Considering xc bores the snot out of me, that's not going to happen, if I want to get miles in, I'll get on my road bike or do sprint work on the track bike. If I want to use my mtb, I go to the pumptrack or do some urban stuff. The next bike is a jumper, but not too awfully far down the road, a DH bike is planned.

I must have missed the memo about DJers not being mountain bikes. Hmmm . . . . .

My Stable

My first real ride

I first built this '95 CAAD3 (or 2.8) frame back in 96. It was stolen from my apartment in 2005 and popped up on Craigslist this past summer. After the police told me there was nothing that they could do since I didn't record the serial number, I made arrangements to meet with the seller and convinced him that giving me the bike would be the best thing he could do for himself and his toddler son.

http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...e/IMG_0428.jpg

It was well neglected. I immediately sold the Gary Fisher Tassajara that I bought to replace it (but never really loved to ride) to finance the rebuild.

Getting my Cannondale back rekindled my love for riding so much that I had to get my hands on a full suspension rig. I hooked up with this gem on ebay for less than half the price of a brand new Trek Fuel or Specialized Camber

2004 SC Superlight with 19 miles. This bike was in mint condition and it happened to be my size (small...hard to come by on the used market).

Just picked this up today. I'm more of a roadie/tourist so it is nothing too fancy, but the disc breaks work way better than the V-Brakes on any of my older mountain bikes. I will get it out on some trails tomorrow.

If a DJ is a mountainbike then a Cycloross bike is too. Actually a cross bike see's more trails than a DR so I think the cross bike has one up on the DJ.

Dan if your NJ trails are boring I feel bad for ya dude. I never get bored of the trails around me in KY.

In my county there's pretty much 2 good trail systems, used to be 4, but the state messed with them and the other two are a hole in the wall type of trails, but I am thinking about a 6" trail bike, not too awfully far from Bethlehem, Pa which has some great trails.

You be the judge...but IMO...I'd ride he ****e outta a DJ'er on a rough and gnarly trail before I'd take out that carbon crack floss.
