So do you use the disc brake or the rim brake on the front?
|
rim brake on the front. he just had it set up like that for some reason lol. i just got it though for 140, idk know what kind of riding i should do with it lol. it is a dirt jumping bike so i may get into it.
|
That's De Niro on your headtube, not Pacino. ;)
Nice find. But if you're going to use it for dirt jumping, ditch the double crown and get an Argyle or Dirt Jumper. |
oh i know lol, i just added that picture because it kinda seemed like a good fit haha,
and also, how much could i sell that double crown for? and are thoes brands or types of forks that you mentioned? |
would my Rock Shox SID be ok for DJ?
|
Rock Shox Argyle
Marzocchi Dirt Jumper Couple different versions of each, and one of the Argyles is an air fork. If you're light and/or smooth, you could get away with something lighter, like a Fox F80 or something. I haven't ridden a SID, but I hear it's a little on the noodle-y side. It's a really light XC fork, but then again, so is the F80, so I don't know. You just want something a little more responsive and lower travel for jumping. If it's exclusively a jump bike, you can probably get rid of some of the gears too, but obviously that's a preference thing. I have no idea how much that fork would go for. |
well thank you very much dude. I will definatly do my research. The only thing is that i dont have anywere to go if i want to jump, except the woods behind my house. there is a cleared out area with some pretty big jumps i made over the summer, but i dont think it would be enough to go out and get a whole new fork for it. who knows.
thanks though man. im going to keep my eyes peeled on craigslist (my WORLD) |

We have Sandy Ridge BMX in southern McDonough, as well as quite a few other BMX tracks in the Atlanta metro area (though Augusta is the only other one in Georgia anywhere near as good as ours). You've also got that friend who does freestyle/street biking who you said had a freestyle BMX track in his back yard or something like that. |
Here is a short video of my MTB, not really a hard core Mountain Biker, but do love it also.

A couple of changes since stock photo from the other day. Had it out on the trails yesterday and I enjoyed every minute of it.

what did that fork cost you?
|
How does it affect your balance on the bike. It's cool, but weird looking to me. Nice ride though!

It has no major affect on balance. What it does is offer a more responsive ride because the single strut is stronger than a traditional for so I don't lose anything. The bike turns amazingly well and if you are not careful, you can overturn. The forks are much lighter than the two sided counterparts also. The equivalent 110 mm travel traditional fork is around two or more pounds heavier. Once I got use to the more precise and accurate turning, I don't want to go back to an old traditional fork. Thank you for the comments. I love the bike! |
