Yeah it will pretty much roll over anything. Stuff i would be hesitant to attack is easy on this thing. Not quite as flickable as my hardtail, but i guess i can't have everything.

^^ Amazing color matching!!! Do you have tubes in those fat tires? Or do you use tubeless?

Thanks, I'm just about to order some new parts to get it ready for the upcoming season (it was my daily commuter this past winter until I got a new beater road bike); new, fatter (green) grips, a 1x10 setup and new chain guide, a black and green Fizik Tundra 2 saddle, new bottom bracket, new brake pads...this summer when the cash is available I'm getting some Industry9 Enduro wheels in black rim, green nipples, black spokes, green hub. Gahh I can't wait haha.

I run tubes but I do want to try out a Stans NoTube setup sometime. Those tires are 2.35 front and rear, I'm getting a High Roller 2 or a Kaiser to swap out the Bontrager with.

Well I put 59 miles on this bike and I am hooked big time to moutain biking again. I sold the Mamba to a co worker and I already replaced it with a 2013 trk superfly Al elite... Night and day difference between the two...

I bet it is...

For what ever reason I find the huge tires and puny disc brakes unattractive... Are you gonna upgrade to some larger ones?

Those puny Avid discs stop me as well as anything out there.

The only benefit to running larger discs is for big dudes who like to challenge gravity and I am a buck fifty five when my pockets are filled with rocks.

:)

ColinL 03-20-13 03:10 PM

^^ yup.

I have 'only' 160mm discs on my MTB. The horror! :)

sloar 03-21-13 06:03 AM

bought new in 1998, upgraded to full xtr and spin wheels. last summer i stripped the paint and cleared over the aluminum and bought new forks. still a great riding mountain bike.

Nice bike sloar!! How do those wheels hold up under the trails? To me it looks like they'd snap on the smallest drop...

My first mtb build(build/ride vintage road bikes mostly)......certainly not perfect or even close to as nice as a ton of the pics here.....but it's fun to ride. :thumb:

Current iteration, Fuji SLM 2.0 Carbon... Fox Float 32... Just upgraded the brakes to XT M785 and a Thomson seatpost. Next up, wheels. Sits sub 23 right now could be a good bit lighter with the new wheels.
