With an added remote for the GD post. $80 and ten minutes later, I can't believe it took me this long to swap to the remote version. Sooooo much nicer. Dropper post options on this frame are limited due to the small seat tube size. The GD has served well for near six years, so swapping it to remote and keeping it was a no-brainer.

And with a new Reverb on this one. Most excellent. could have swapped the GD on this bike over to remote as well, but had new part lust.

The non-remote post from the Banshee is going on the big bike, which is also going back to a 7" single crown instead of the Boxxer on their now, and back to a two ring setup. The reality is I'd rather pedal it up most places, and only get to the lifts a few times a year. It'll get more overall use setup this way, and still be quite servicable at Diablo and Platty. Much more pedal friendly, a couple pounds lighter, still durable. Win-Win. It's completely overkill for most of my local riding, but nice to have around for those "heavy" days. The fork change won't screw with the geometry -same front end height. A bit more flex, but honestly at my size and for me not doing super big moves, it functionally won't matter.

Have you been able to ride the 1x9 yet, if so how do you like it? I'd like to switch to a 2x9 but I can't justify spending the money right now.

It's kind of in "road mode" but I do put some 47c meats on there.

scrublover 04-15-11 09:03 AM

I've been riding 1x drivetrains off and on for quite a while now. Love it. These are both SRAM x.9 ten speed setups, running Shimano XT cassettes, SRAM chains. 31T ring on the hardtail, a 30t on the Banshee. Shifts smoooooove. Runs quietly. No issues so far.

Especially with the newer 11-36 cassettes, you can get a pretty good range for your needs. All depends on what your trails are like though.

Some nice rigs in this thread, but not a whole lot have gone my route. Super light hardtail.

I normally race my road bike but thought this would be a fun way to mix things up.

I'd post mine in here, but it sucks by comparison. :thumb:
Mine's a thrift store resurrection that's a ton of fun to thrash on.

you should post it anyway. i've posted pics of my bikes even though mine are cheap, rusty pieces of crap that cost me nothing. posting pictures of crappy looking bikes make the other bikes look extremely good by comparison.

I made the same mistake. This time last year I had about 12 crits under my belt. This year - 2. This time last year I had maybe 2300 miles. This year - 1000. This time last year I was still suffering. This year - i smile every time I hit the trail. Enjoy the darkside.

My newly resurrected 2003 Trek Fuel. Was rotting away, and I got it from the neighbors for free.....completely stripped the frame down, sand blasted and painted. Cleaned everypart, nut and bolt. New cables and housings, new Cane Creek headset, lizard skinz lock on grips....rides great!

stevemtbr 04-22-11 07:57 PM

Well.....at least it's a Yeti and the same color as Doug's. :thumb:

^^ Dang! Now that could get me on the road some (well, and dabbling in 'cross). Saw one on the floor when I was in Golden last year but never knew any mortal who had one. So many Yetis, so little time . . . .
