Picked up this Trek 820 last Saturday, guy couldn't tell me much about it. Could use a pair of tubes, tires, and grips. Any good online vendors for 26X2.0 street tires? Having some trouble locating a set.

That is hands down...a gorgeous bike. Exactly what a mountain bike should look like.

Check out Nashbar's Streetwise tires... my friend has them on his folding MTB which he uses for commuting duty, and he says they have great punture resistence, and all the thing I've read have been good, and there only like 10-12 dollars. Although, I think they only go up to 26*1.75. Schwalbe Big Apples are supposed to be nice, but they are very expensive. I'd try the Nashbars out, though.

My late 90's Rockhopper Comp, after a particularly muddy/wet ride that involved chucking it over a fence...

Thanks for the lead, but I picked up a pair of Kenda street tires yesterday at my LBS for $16 a pop. Just got back from riding a few miles to try them out and they are pretty nice. :-)

Its a no name frame with an interesting 'yoke' arrangement on the stays, anyone got any ideas?

Are you referring to the first pic? My 1999 Merida looks the same "down there", but the tubing is different. Here´s the only pic I have of it:

I´m from Sweden and I have no idea if you guys even have the Merida brand in the US.

Reallllly looking forward to moving out of my tiny apartment. It's been awhile since I had space and my bike maintenance has gone down the tubes. Been riding a ton and that's a good thing...

Thoughts so far? It's on my short list, but all of the shops require a special order for it, so I'm hesitant to deal with all of that nonsense. What did you ride before?

I am very happy so far. I have been out on it 5 times now and I am very happy.

I used to ride a Jamis Dakar and the difference is like night and day. Now-the Jamis was a 2005 model and I'm sure the advances in geometry from then until now make a big difference in ride quality. For instance the Giant is much more slack and feels much more stable on descents.

I work at a shop and have ridden a lot of high end bikes and I can honestly say that the Trance rides as well as any of the uber-expensive boutique frames out there. For the money I just don't know if you can beat it.

Is that the Trance X3? Sorta guessing by the paint scheme. I checked out a Trek Fuel EX8, and will probably look towards a Specialized Camber, but like the component setup on the Trek and Giant a little better. So far the Trek is in the lead, though I haven't gotten around to riding any yet. You're not making my decision any easier. :notamused:
