I've since sold the Seven Sola and the Ellsworth Rogue. I replaced the Rogue with a Knolly Delirium.

Not the hottest bike, but a great ride. My 2002 Trek Fuel 90 upgraded with: Rattle can black paint job, Manitou Minute Air 100mm forks, 2010 Azonic BB7 disc brakes, Xenduro disc wheel set, Panaracer Fire XC Pros, Lizard Skinz Peaty lock on grips, WTB Speed V saddle....climbs like a mountain goat and is a blast on the descents!! Winter upgrades will include a Fox RP23 rear shock, and a quality powdercoat paintjob!

Sick looking ride. It's good to just upgrade parts on a bike you already have, instead of buying a new one. What colour paint job do you have in mind? Stick with the red/black colour scheme, or try something different?

craigcraigcraig 05-31-11 04:26 PM

dont paint it. it's only going to get more scratched. I like the rattlecan look.

dminor 05-31-11 04:30 PM

Just noticed this - - diggin' the mini-chopper in the background. But . . . is that a twin I'm seing? An old 160 or 175 engine?

mrgrunt99 06-01-11 08:51 PM

Thanks for the feedback.....and the mini chopper in the background isn't actually a mini chopper....it is just a project of mine....a super low chopper with an old Kawasaki KZ-750 twin motor

dminor 06-01-11 11:24 PM

Looks very nice. Did not realize it was that large displacement of a mill. Looks like it will be fun.

Not much, but just picked her up tonight! First real mountain bike and I got it for a steal!

I like it too.

Somehow it seems like the answer to all those threads whether to rebuild some POS (I'm in that dilemma now with the Tass) or jump into something new. The new bikes are just way cooler.

OMG!!!

Thanks. It's the best handling bike I've built so far. The objective was to end up with something with decent performance, but that I wouldn't feel bad when it gets beat up a bit. I can actually afford a lot more bike, but I figure riding this level of bike for a while will make me a better rider in the end (and you don't miss what you never had). Plus I have a building addiction (GT Avalanche frame currently in progress).

Holy hell that's a swanky looking bike! I like it though, looks smooth.

Wow, you rode there on June 7th, 2011? What kind of time machine do you have? ;)

I just realized my mistake. Can't believe I did that. I'll have to fix it.

Not my most fun or exhilarating machine but it is an efficient, utilitarian tool:

Ah, a true man of the people, copping to riding a mere mortal bike. Admirable. (I'm not kidding BTW)

IT. IS. FINISHED!!
Pic attached. Shout out to Snazzy for hookin me up with the fork, Ed for answerin a few questions I had, and the general BF grouches that put up with my dumb questions along the way.
It turned out to look ALOT better than I expected. It's a heap of really, really random parts.

I've had this bike for six years and have never taken decent pics of it. It came as a Shimano Deore LX build. I have modified it a bit here and there, but this spring right before riding season I bit the bullet and did some serious upgrades. The bike weighs 24.2lbs with pedals as pictured.

1. XT front derailluer
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...a/DSC_4682.jpg

2. Saint brakes
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...a/DSC_4683.jpg

3. Salsa carbon riser bar and the 7 degree stem were installed a few years ago, as were the XTR shifters. Loving these saint brake levers though!
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...a/DSC_4686.jpg

4. X9 rear cassette and chain to go along with the new XTR cables I installed. Drivetrain worked like a dream until last night when I whacked my crank on a rock.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...a/DSC_4689.jpg

5. The whole bike. It's by no means a top of the line machine, but I love it so much. I bought it knowing nothing about mountain bikes because it was on sale and looked cool but I've grown to the point where I'll upgrade this bike forever before I go buy a new 29'er. I hang with most of the guys from the LBS on shop rides anyway and they are on 29'ers.
