Was going to wait until tomorrow to post up some better pics but i just couldn't resist. In love with this and it hasn't even seen a trail yet! Sold my 29er Rockhopper (To my dad of all people. He was shopping for a new bike on craigslist and gave my number a call without noticing who it belonged to... lol!) and now got this!

Shakedown and fine tuning fit/suspension to occur tomorrow. Gonna' probably drop the fork down to 130-140 from 150mm, slide the seat back a touch on the rails.
First VPP bike, after some Maestro, single pivot, linkaged single pivots, and Horst bikes. Just around the block, it's incredibly stiff, fast, fun.

The new Scale
Picked it up yesterday - Scott Scale 29 Expert. Great deal on the last '12 in stock from my LBS.

Some incredible bikes in this thread... none of my bikes really "fit" anywhere. I'll post it up and let you guys decide. This bike sees dirt and gravel, no singletrack where I am. It's aluminum, actually weighs around 25 pounds.

It is perfect . . . love it. Are those stainless zip-ties holding the panel in the frame? And is that a K2 frame?

It is actualy a cheating SIR with a 2x10 setup. And I think he is right it isn't a gold color its more of a copper/brown color. Either way its a damn fun bike, soon the rear gears will be going to another poject and i'll run this as a single speed like its suposed to be.

And it is approved. I liked that iteration of Hardrock frame - - self-gusseted enough to take a lot of abuse. Those things survived a lot of grom thrashing.

This was a fun project. I wanted something for the fould weather coming up. And I was bored with the local trails on my Devinci. This beast is so much fun, I may even add a 29er suspension fork.....maybe.

That's one of my favorite frames! Dig the rear shock setup. May or may not work as well as the new S-Bikes, but still a mean lookin' frame! I also have always liked reverse arched forks for some odd reason. Never owned one, but always wanted a Sherman.
Nice ride, man.

Good call, D! That was the Hardrock that changed the world right there. That was when I started telling everyone who didn't know what bike to get..."Buy a Hardrock. It will do anything." That thar's the one.

Got the remaining parts today and was finally able to put it together. Took it out for a ride tonight and it feels pretty good. Definitely notice the bigger wheels...in both positive and negative ways. And it'll take a bit getting used to a rigid bike on the trails again.

After moving to the City (left my bikes at my home town), I was forced to stopped cycling. A few weeks ago, I decided to get back into cycling. So I went to an LBS and bought whatever fit my budget.
I do not intend to do some serious trails as I live in the City now, just some recreational rides in the park and around where I live. I will be swapping the fork with a rigid carbon or Al fork..
