Recommend me a new tyre (And maybe a portable pump)

Recommend me a new tyre (And maybe a portable pump)
Hi all,
while doing a ride the other day, I had a puncher, and it's put a small hole in my rear tyre, I'm not too worried as it has warn down alot anyway! It got me back at least
So, I could do with a new rear tyre, possibly a front one too, but that one seems alright for now. It's a hardtail, GT Aggressor XC2 2008 model, not designed for proper mountain biking, but a solid enough bike for me.
I would like a tyre that is pretty quick, doesn't have to be mega grippy, but I don't want to be sliding around the place due to a bit of mud!
It's a 26" Wheel, it currently has a 2.3" tyre on it.
Anything upto £40, maybe more if it's worth it.
Any recommendations?
Also, I could do with a portable/frame pump capable of doing 60~65 PSI with ease, so any recommendations would be appreciated.
And the last thing, just wondering, does it make that much of a difference what inner tube you get? If so, what's the best to get?
If anyone could answer any of these questions I'd much so appreciate it.

I use a Mountain Morph. Great pump, fast to fill up tires with and has a pressure gauge to boot, but it's huge. You also have to take it apart to go between Schraeder and Presta, if you ride with friends and that's a concern. I also have no idea how easy/hard it is to get up to 60-65 PSI because I usually run half that.
Topeak also has the Rocket and Peak series available. Haven't used those pumps, but if their Morph and Joe Blow lines are any indication, they make quality stuff.

I am quite likely to go with the morph road pump, I rather like the design, how it can be used almost like a track pump. Blackburn was a brand I was considering, as I have a solid track pump that is a Blackburn, very good pump, only it's a bit hard carrying it around with you!
I saw some interesting pumps where it was 'geared', so you could select between high volume or high pressure, pretty clever. I think it was a Blackburn one.
In terms of my rear tyre, I'm looking into getting the Schwalbe Marathon Extreme.
