Whatever maximum pressure it says on the tire. At the moment that's 4.5 bar (65 psi). Lower than that when off road (3-3.5 bar). But I usually use my road bike for the street, which has about 8 bar.

Yeah if your riding your MTB with tubes on the road...go with the max for sure. I run about 30psi when I'm on the trail. (The only place I ride my MTB.)

Depends on your tire diameter, rider weight, and how un-smooth you ride.

Ok thanks guys this makes more sense I have been struggling with the average speed some of you guys are getting using a mountain bike. Keep in mind I am way out of shape but I just checked my tires and they were at 35 psi I think I will try about 60 start and see if this helps.

On mtb tires I run 30psi when my riding is primarily on the street. I have a spare wheelset with slicks with tires rated to 100psi. It's great for running around town.
