Whatever maximum pressure it says on the tire. At the moment that's 4.5 bar (65 psi). Lower than that when off road (3-3.5 bar). But I usually use my road bike for the street, which has about 8 bar.

Yeah if your riding your MTB with tubes on the road...go with the max for sure. I run about 30psi when I'm on the trail. (The only place I ride my MTB.)

Depends on your tire diameter, rider weight, and how un-smooth you ride.

There's a good thread about this if you explore the search function.

Ok thanks guys this makes more sense I have been struggling with the average speed some of you guys are getting using a mountain bike. Keep in mind I am way out of shape but I just checked my tires and they were at 35 psi I think I will try about 60 start and see if this helps.

Thanks

If you really want to go as fast as possible on the street, then buy some slick tyres in 1,3" ca.

On mtb tires I run 30psi when my riding is primarily on the street. I have a spare wheelset with slicks with tires rated to 100psi. It's great for running around town.
