Rim and Spoke Suggestion

Heyo.. So, its that time of the year and I am going to upgrade my wheels for my Yeti 575. Looking for All Mountain / Enduro capable set and have decided on Chris King hubs. Yes I9s are probably better, but they are also $100 more expensive. Yes Hadleys are also a great choice, and I actually haven't fully ruled them out.. I just live in OR and have some CK love.

Anyways.. my questions come in the rim & spoke dept. Im goin with a red theme on these wheels for purely superficial reasons. Therefore, the DT Swiss rims look pretty good. I am thinking of either the EX 500 or XM 450.. They seem pretty similar, but then again, I am definitely not a rim expert. Any input? Other suggestions? Im gonna be using alloy nipples, so eyeleted rims are a big plus.

As for the spokes.. I have always used DT Swiss Competitions all around. They are a double butted and have always done well. However, I thought I might get some opinions on the different varieties as there might be something better out there. I know the Sapim CX Rays are said to be the best.. but I really cant justify spending $4/spoke. What about the DT Revolutions or DT Supercomps? Would those be too light weight for this application? Of course, I could always lace different spokes on the front or back or drive side vs non drive side..

Any input is very welcome.. Thanks!

I presonally would feel more confident in the 1.7 middle diameter of the SuperComps than the 1.5 of the Revolutions for an all-mountain build-up for your 575. But maybe I'm too cautious - - I only recently moved to Comps from the old tried-and-true straight-guage Champions on my 303R.

Keeping things in perspective, going to save 2 ounces over a wheelset build choosing SuperComps over Comps; or 3.5 ounces to go Revolutions. IMO, if you want a wheelset to match the all-mountain capabilities of your 575 - - and protect your rim investment - - I'd go with Comps.

Besides, you can get the Comps in red, where it looks like neither the Revs or SCs are available in red .

Thanks for the input.. Just put in an order for some red King hubs, DT Swiss EX500 rims, Competition spokes, and purdy red anodized nipples.. Hopefully will have them all built up and ready for next weekend.
