I'm thinking of leaving Manhattan around 7ish, going across some bridge to Brooklyn, get to Fourth Ave until the 70's, bike path and all the way there. Where are you in Brooklyn?

Depending how much beer and dogs are consumed the ride back is optional

Do you ride to work? If so we can leave from there (I'm not far from there).

Count me in. By Tuesday, I'm sure I'll have devised a plan of how not to carry my work clothes on a ride to Coney Island....

Not even - Nathans has a bunch of outdoor tables and whatnot unless you wanted to sit on the sand.

Wait - he only wears underwear to work?! I thought they got rid of most of those places in Times Square....

So, from pushing my mtb around all weekend since I'm waiting for the rear wheel for my roadie my knees are really aching. I think it would be better for me to push it back one more week Really pissed but so be it. If you guys want to go go for it - but I'd love to do it again next Tuesday.

FYI - The hotdogs have a nice snap when you bite into them, the onions have the slightest little kick, the cheesefries are cheesy, the fried clams could use a little less batter and a regular lemonade is big. The Nathans on the boardwalk isn't open yet nor is the bar right next to it although it looks like they're getting ready to open for the season. Also, the Cyclone and Astroland weren't open last night at 8pm. No crowds although there were a few intrepid travellers venturing out to Surf Ave. for a hotdog.

I figure lets meet up at my place - it's on the way for both you and jyossarian. I'll PM you my address. If anyone else wants to go PM me!

I guess maybe meet at my place between 7-7:30, leave at 7:30? Too late, not late enough?

People do - it's fairly safe. The group rides are neat because they go all over the place, but you'll see a good handful of people riding loops.

Torps, I ride a couple of nights a week. It seems pretty safe to me. There are cops stationed on the east & west sides, before Harlem Hill & on the south side.

I usually ride between 8:30-11pm. You won't find a ton of bikers riding after 10:30 or so, but there are a surprising amount of people in the park until midnite. Joggers, walkers, peeps walking their dogs, tourists, etc.

It's worth riding with a front & rear light. Lots of wrong way cyclists & runners in there after dark. And the occasional random Park vehicle.

Bikes: SRAM Force Gruppo on an unmarked CF frame

Newbie here, I might join in on tomorrow's ride. I did that ride once, Ocean Parkway was a bit of a pain with all the traffic lights. Hoping that 4th Ave. route to the bike path is better. Where exactly in Brooklyn are you guys meeting? I can't bring my bike to work (building doesn't allow it) so I'm going to need to get home and then hop on the bike.

Welcome! Jyossarian will meet me at my place near Times Square on the east side - looks like 6. Bklyn PMed me, wanted to swing past Park Slope somewhere on the way. Are you coming in on the Path? If so I'm 5 mins from there if you go to the 33rd Street station.
