10ish?!

Didn't you say it took you like, 9 hrs? As a group, even if we manage 6-7 hours, that means not getting back till 4-5pm... arg...

As far as I'm concerned, the Bear Mtn ride was a success. A success because I made it to the top, despite having to stop once or twice and climb at tediously slow speeds at some points. Here's the Garmin info in case anyone is interested in taking the trip https://trail.motionbased.com/trail/i...kValue=3239686

And I'm still debating what was more worth the trip...the view from the top or the subsequent descent.

Ran up to Piermont today after work. Or should I say I TRIED to run up to Piermont. After the Alpine climb out from River road, maybe 3 miles from piermont, I was going downhill and looked back at traffic, then back ahead just in time to smash into some 2" chunks of limestone.

Slashed the back tire and tube. So I put in my spare tube and blow it up.... pssssst... the spare has a hole rubbed in it from being in my saddle bag for 700 miles. 1 cartridge gone. Pull it back out, patch it, and refill. 2 cartridges down.

Get on the bike to go..... but by this time, the front has gone down too. Pull it out, patch it and air it back up. 3rd (and last) cartridge.

Turn back and hustle, trying to make it back to the bridge before dark in a not very good mood.

Right at the 505 split, picked up some glass... front goes down slowly... I make it to the steps at the bridge. Oh well... walk it across the bridge and catch a cab to my office, then train home. BAH.

Anyhow... if everyone wants to do sunday rather than saturday, that's fine by me.

gfrance, mazaev... what say you? Sat or Sunday?

That doesn't sound pleasant at all, I always wrap the tube around some kind of fabric first and check it every month or so. At least you made it back before it got too dark.

I have a few things at home to take care of on sat so sunday would be a lot better for me.

Ouch dude. I broke a pedal (Yes, again (3rd time actually; getting fed up already) in about the same spot last Saturday and had to bail as well. Probably should be carrying a patch kit.

Anyway, I'm gonna be out of town Sat night through Sunday so Sunday morn is a no go for me.

Sunday is good for me...but like I said, the earlier the better. And I'm probably only good to Piermont/Nyack. Not as far as Bear Mountain.

i just got back from piermont...or rather, 9w and a bunch of side roads. anyway, 9W sucks during the weekday! maybe i hit morning rush hour but it was a steady stream of cars whizzing by the whole way. even on the shoulder, it felt sketchy. apparently quite a few people drive half in the lane and half over the shoulder! what's up with that? do they have to take every inch of pavement?

anyway, weekends are so much nicer. i may be able to head up on sunday too. depends on how saturday night goes (it's my birthday so i'll probably be out late).

Sunday works for me. Gives me saturday to get some work done on the bike.

I'm hoping to leave early and go straight up and back without too many stops. Earlier is better. 7am at the Brooklyn Bridge (or even 6:30) works for me. But I'll let the group pick a time.

Anyone wanting to do a shorter route is welcome to ride up and either wait at Piermont, or head back solo.

I'm also looking for a place we can grab dinner (and definitely some beer) when we get back to Brooklyn... but it's a challenge due to lack of safe places to put the bikes. Ideas anyone?

I will be coming from Queens. Meet up somewhere along the West Side Bike path. Early times are good here as well. What 'ya say Slvoid? You in?

I know Brooklyn but for the life of me can't think of a single place that will allow several bikes in safely. Some outdoor place?... maybe that Cuban Place in Fort Greene.....

I went up there with NYCphoto on a weekday one time and it was pretty good on 9W.

Anyway I'm definitely in for sunday. If you guys want to have a nice meal, we can leave early, be at bear mountain by like, noon, and then back by 2pm to piermont, and we can eat at one of the outside cafes.

BTW: I'm up for going to bear mountain as early as possible to beat the crowds on the way up. My gf's gone for the weekend so I'm gonna get a real good night's sleep.

To those of you who are thinking of going all the way to bear mountain and back, be warned it's about 12000ft total of climbing and about 120 miles give or take.

Warning taken. Im only good for Nyack/Piermont and back. Afternoon plans, and not really ready for that big a ride just yet. Working out kinks.

So, let's get a head count and a time/place to meet up.

I was thinking leaving my house between 7 and 8 (could be earlier too). 45 min or so maybe to get over to west side path. I kind of need to shoot to get back home by 1:00. So if you or others want to go on further, I'll ride back solo. No prob.

TimmHaan, nycphotography? you guys certain yet?
