Part 1:
JB path to Cedar Creek Park,
- Exit park to north on Beach St, cross Sunrise
- R on Park Ave., take to end at Seaford OBY Expressway, continue left to Demott Ave. and
- R and under SOB, Demott becomes Clark, straight and east on Clark.
- Clark meets the Bethpage Path, go north.
Take the path up and thru BP state park, continue north to Washington Ave. follow path west on north side of the LIE service road, up Sunnyside and only to;
Part 2
- R on Froelich Farm Blvd.
- R on Woodbury Rd.
- L on Piquets Lane, which becomes So Woods Road after you cross Jericho, continue straight/north
- R on Cold Spring Rd.
- L on Northern Blvd.
- R on Cove Rd.
Cove Rd into Oyster Bay village, a couple of ways into T Roosevelt park and to water, you pick, it's on Google.
RideWithGPS has it at 28.5 miles one-way, from the JB east bathhouse to TR Park.
The JB path is 6.5 to Cedar Creek, then the road section to the BP path is about 2-1/2, the BP path is about 11-1/2, the remaining road section is another 8-1/2

On Friday, I left work in Downtown Manhattan early in order to meet some people at a ping pong place in Hicksville, then went back home to Woodhaven, Queens.
I took Jamaica Avenue / Jericho Turnpike both ways. Going out, it was before the evening rush; coming back, it was late at night. So it was a pleasant ride both ways.
I used Westbury Avenue / Maple Avenue for its entire length. I then took Union Avenue in Westbury a short distance up to Prospect Avenue (nice bike lane) / John Street.
The whole ride was 60 miles.

Holy moly, I feel your pain. We have been out in Montauk doing the bike & beach thing, taking short-ish 36 or so mile rides every morning. It's deceptively pleasantly cool out here in the mornings, in the 60's, so you feel comfortable until you realize the humidity has you utterly drenched. I took 1 afternoon solo jaunt first day and we have been on the tandem for all the rest.
The pic of the horses was taken just up the hill from the bike hostel at Theodore Roosevelt County Park (which I will persist in calling it). What a beautiful place. I plan on riding out here later in the year. The "hostel" has bathrooms, running water, and a roofed-over pavilion with many tables, but sadly no showers.
Sorry about the shirtless gent in the lighthouse pic......he snuck in there while I futzed with the phone.

What a great day...
Little to no traffic, cool temps, shady streets and low humidity.
Went for 40 miles out of Bethpage.
It was a fun ride.

I second all of the above, except we went out to Kings Park and had an extra 8 miles. Last ride of this little vacation. Mrs & myself put 201 miles of pavement astern.

Hills!
I normally ride the south shore. Jones Beach, Long Beach & also Far Rockaway to Breezy Point. All nice and flat rides. Yesterday morning went to Bethpage & rode to Theodore Roosevelt Park, Sagmore Hill then back. To the riders who post here about cycling on the north shore & the cyclists who I saw yesterday on my ride I tip my hat to you. My Garmin says I normally climb 50- 60ft on the S.S. yesterday it was over 1250 ft. I was starving by the time I was done (35 miles) that is normally not the case. It was a beautiful ride though, nice to see different places. I have lived on LI my entire life and never been to Oyster Bay before.I now have an strong urge to get myself a road bike. I guess I am getting B+1 flu

Amazing. How old are you ?. My nephews, in their late 20's and early 30's have not been a lot of places on L.I., so I can understand.
I lived in Locust Valley for 10 years, never riding a bike. Then I moved to the south shore, took up cycling, rode with the Long Island and Massapequa Park cycling clubs, whose institutional memory of the roads of northern LI, from Great Neck to Stony Brook are legendary. I went places on a bike I never knew existed.
Riding with either of those clubs teaches you the best routes as well as food stops. They have entry level groups who have "don't drop" policies.

Steve I will be 64 in 2 weeks which is no problem any day when you wake up and the first thing you see is the green grass and not the roots of the grass it is going to be a good day! It's funny though I grew up in Farmingdale went to school in Suffolk County & live in the Southwest Nassau I never had any reason socially or otherwise to go to the Northen part of Nassau. The directions you gave me last week to get to Oyster Bay was spot on. Thanks

I hear you, I'm 62 and grew up in Westchester. If I hadn't taken up cycling nearly 30 years ago I would likely never know of the many, many places of interest on L.I.

This is the nature of bike riding! I have gone to all corners of the four significant boroughs of New York City, to places in my city that I would have never gotten to without riding. I have expanded my exploration to Jersey City, Hoboken, and Newark, and have gotten to know those cities pretty well. Also, I know more about navigation in Bergen County, Westchester County, and (on point for this thread) Nassau County than I have ever known. On top of all that, I have made several trips to Philadelphia; and I am filling in details of my mental map of that city.
In quiet moments, I often have flashback-like memories of various street scenes. So it's the gift that keeps on giving.
The bicycling pace is the perfect travel speed to see places and get to know them. Walking is too slow, trapping you in one small location for too long. And one gets very little of any external stimuli while driving.
But when you are riding a bike, you are moving at a speed similar to riding a horse, a speed at which humans have moved for millennia, and one which our brains are adapted.
Your bike is your freedom.

The "B" rides are 35-40 miles with a stop in the middle and average 14.5mph.
There aren't many "C" ride.
Is you want a "C" ride checkout Mineola Bike Club. https://www.mineolabicycle.com/club.html

Thank you all for the information regarding the C rides. Right now I average around 35- 40 miles on my weekend ride,15- 20 miles 2 or 3x during the week generally in the mid twelves. Probably going to hit the hills again this weekend. Got a little more work (fun) to do.
