Anybody here go to or participate in the Cool Mtn Bike Race last weekend? I found out that two of my instructors and one of my customers placed well in the event. 2 1sts and a 5th.

Nobody wants to play with me but Jon. And I'm getting tired of pink. Hmmmph.

I've tried and tried, but I just can't get interested in mountain biking.

Hmm gearing. Well the toughest (largest grade) would be going up Pilot Hill on Salmon Falls. I don't remember off hand but I am guessing between 5-12% for a good 2-3 miles. Its a really good climb but not exactly a killer. Most of the climb is probably 5-9% with spurts going 9-12%. 4-6 months ago I was climbing on a 39/25. When I got tested back then I was 5watts/kg max. 202 lbs & 455 watts on my VO2 max test. I am guessing I am 10% better power wise and could climb in 39/23 or 21 now.

All in all, take the above info for what its worth. If you know your numbers, than you could guage yourself based on the above.

If you have any questions on any rides up this way, you can email me at: kent@johnsonorthodonticlab.com. I have 8 months worth of rides on motionbased if anybody wants to look around.

Another Northern Californian checking in. I've looked around in this subforum before, but it's always been either dead, or too Bay Area-centric.

So... hi.

Bikes: Moots RCS, tandem, beach-cruiser, MTB, Specialized-Allez road-bike, custom track-bike

Ok, looks like we've got the following people interested in the Pagemill/BigBasin ride:

APRIL 8th RIDE LIST

qpliu
x136
bigbossman
ahpook
platypus
Dauphin
Bikingshearer
Danno
Pheard
SBW

I should make a poll later to figure out if we want to start at the bottom of Big Basin or Pagemill...Also I don't think it'd be too tough to come up some roadbikes for Pheard & SBW by then. I've got a spare 56cm Trek 1200 I can bring up...

Dang, I'd love to join you guys but I don't think I can do the climbing. I've driven that road with my car club friends and some stretches are kinda steep.
