Anyone done this "Blast From the Past" Sedro Wooley, WA Century Ride?

SWAN Century and Family Fun Ride- Sedro Woolley, WA

I'm thinking about doing this ride as STP training. Looks great since it is flat, flat... I get all the
hills I care for around my house. Anyone done this ride before? Thoughts?

Thanks.

I haven't done that particular ride, but in riding with the Seattle Randonneurs I'm familiar with the roads it takes.

Looks like quite a bit of the route is SR20 and S. Skagit Hwy (parallels SR20 on the south side of the river), and both are great for riding. The roads out towards the coast are very nice, too. It also looks like they picked a very east-west route to avoid the fact that when you're at or west of Sedro-Wooley, any wind seems to always come from the south, and there's nothing to block them. SR-9, Farm-to-Market Rd, Edison-Bayview, etc. all can get some really stiff headwinds if you're heading south.

Put the widest tires you can fit into your frame for the South Skagit road, and run them at the lowest pressure you can. Reason? much of it is surfaced with chipseal, size Large -- the gravel they used must be about 3/4" minus, and there's not much of the minus, either. But, a nice route.
