Depends. If I'm out 3 hours sucking wheel on a group ride, I usually just do water. If I'm out 3 hours by myself, I need some sort of calories, usually just sports drink.

It is really good for your body to learn how to ride without food. If you can do 3+ hours at a z2 pace with no food, it teaches your body to use fat for fuel instead of glycogen. Unless you are absolutely hammering (i.e. in a race situation), you shouldn't need anything on a 3 hour ride. I did 2.5hrs at a hard tempo pace (about 85% of my 1 hour power) and while I was hungry, my lack of food did not effect my performance.

Sure.

Mikey, what part of a few calories don't you get? Again, breakfast, a couple gels, and some bars for a 200K. Not much more for a 300K. All with significant climbing.

If I don't take in something during the ride I'll get a headache after my ride.

Jen,

In case I forget later, or don't get back to the 'puter before your bedtime...

Have a great ride this weekend. Enjoy it, be safe, and remember you're riding for a great cause...

Just spray it with "Deep Woods Off" it will melt, get the web cam set first.

Seriously, it will melt while you watch. I did this to my Giro "Pneumo" that I paid $160 for.

Incorrect.

You have an OK bike. Get the Garmin and use the data to make you a better rider. New bike later.

The last time you started a poll (Rev X), you had already decided.

Because they seriously down your cool factor. You're a 9 out of 10 normally, but with the aerobars you're at a negative 3.

Hey Velo,

Got my new bar tape installed today. No more white tape. I like the feel of the microtec tape.
