Had a good club ride this morning. It was only me and one other guy, usually there are 6-8 but the cold and wind must have scared the others away. It was 22-26 degrees with winds approx 15MPH.

It was good, the only annoyance was that my water bottles froze (I figured the cytomax would not freeze but it did, for awhile it was a slushy but eventually froze solid).

My hands were fine in my winter gloves but if it gets much colder I may have to look into mittens or other solutions.

That's one way, here's another. It assumes the fork is out of the frame.

Lay the fork down on a piece of posterboard or paper, with the fork blades perpendicular to the surface. Mark the paper with the center of the dropout closest to the paper. Then find the center of the fork blade that's laying on the paper. Find at least two points as accurately as you can. A caliper really helps. Mark the fork plade at the center points. Take a level or straightedge, place the edge across the two points, and draw a line on the paper, as long as possible. Remove the fork. Draw out the line where the fork was. You should have one long line with a mark above it. Measure the distance between the mark and the line to measure the rake.

I should have made a video.

Coasting, I may not be 100% right about this but I wonder if 2mm of rake one way or the other really makes a difference....

hey datlas, do you warm up before your ride? Does breathing the cold air affect you initially?

No warmup and no problems breathing the cold air. Some folks have cold-induced asthma and need to take a couple of hits from an inhaler before cold rides but luckily I have no issues.

Just crazy about cycling. It was a good ride. Very refreshing too, especially the downhills. I did get one brain freeze though, during an especially fast downhill. Also had one "air-punch" when a big truck passed us going the opposite direction.

I'm venturing out for the first spin this week. Hopefully I won't kill myself on an ice slick. At a balmy 28F, it's the warmest it has been since Sunday.
