As I stated earlier the Jewish people are a people/family/clan/etc., so you can be Jewish and still be an atheist. Or some would say a non-observant Jew.

It's not like being, say, christian or muslim, you can't be a christian atheist or a muslim atheist.

My Hindu friend from college told me that you can be an atheist Hindu, though.

weird theological discussion going on here. serious and silly at the same time. I'm dizzy. And I have finished my last patient. I am going home to make a NY style cheesecake for the Christmas Eve party I'm going to tomorrow night. (how about THAT for hypocracy) My friend who's house we are going to cooks a whole beef tenderloin, lots of good wine. Appetizers of smoked salmon, smoked trout, and lots of chips/dips, and then creme brule and my cheesecake.

Coasting, we will even have poppers and the silly hats that come inside them (we are required to wear them for dinner). And we "dress" for dinner (suit/tie)

I never gain weight at the holidays (or any other time of the year).

Moderation and cycling keeps me at 145....last time I checked I lost 2 pounds and down to 143.

Crap. I'm going to my cousins graduation party tonight which is combined with some family friends of ours. The daughters of the family friends are the most narcissistic, self-proclaimed goddesses you will ever meet. I always have to be on my best behaviour as to not burst their bubble in a blunt way; cheeky side comments are fine though since they fly right over their conflated heads

I think the issue is the "real" jews have said you (in the general way meaning atheists grown up in a jewish home) are not a real jewish person. therein lying the "issue"

Even non practicing are "lost sheep" or something aren't they?
