I just got home from a long day at the hospital.
When I last spoke to dad yesterday evening he was feeling good and getting ready to go to sleep. This morning Mom called me and told me that he had a terrible night, was in terrible pain all night and didn't get any sleep. After I took my wife to work I headed to the hospital. When I first got there he was asleep. About ten minutes later he woke up and the pain started again. He was like that just about all day. The only time the pain was miserable was for about 10 - 15 minutes after each pain shot. He is getting Demerol every 2 hours and valuum (sp?) every 6 hours. Imediately after the injections he falls asleep but in only lasts a few minutes. I don't know how much more of the pain he can handle and I don't know how much more I can handle watching him in that kind of pain.
Whats bad is Sunday he was working out and lifting. He felt great when he went to the hospital Monday for his prostate biopsy and now he can barely walk. This is not easy to watch.

Harsh realm at the hospital. Quick recovery to him, LC.
Well, I'm off for a night ride to the big city. Happy Friday, everyone.

The doctor didn't even take time to talk to us after the surgery, we were told that we must not have been in the waiting room afterwards. We were there the entire time and they never called us. Today he saw my dad for a couple of minutes and had them take the cathator out, my dad was in too much pain to talk to him and he blew my mom off and walked right by her.
Hope he gets better quick. Take him home soon.
Good question. He's been rather quiet on the Internets the last month or so and I haven't seen him since October(?).
Hopefully, he hasn't gone over to the dark side (mountain biking).

LowCel: Hope your dad does ok. If you need an online second opinion, PM me.
To the rest of the gang, it's about 10 degrees out now but luckily I have an organized club ride that won't start until noon, with temps up to a balmy 18F. The back streets are still covered with snow/slush/ice but I've picked a route that should avoid this (I am hoping).
I will be back later to collect my HTFU points.

Thanks datlas, appreciate it. I jumped on the trainer a few minutes ago but felt guilty so I got off of it before I even started my computer. Instead I jumped in the shower and now I'm leaving the house and heading back to town to visit with my dad. Hopefully today is a better day for him.

Sorry to hear, Lowcel.
On a brighter note, tomorrow is pie day and I'm stayin the weekend at my friend's mom's house down here in Middletown, VA - she's a pasty chef. Excellent.

After a long weekend of screwing around in Bermuda I produced a new for me 5 minute power number of 374 watts on the trainer (4.19 w/kg). Still sucky, but better than it was.... it must have been the $8/pint beer.
I did ride there too.

Herbie, looks like fun. Did you have problems with riding on the "wrong" side of the road??
