HTFU. That said, it was 75 today here, and for once lately light(ish) winds too.
Yikes.
can't argue with that logic around dusk.

I thought you were going to ride all the time once you got your new bike? Seriously, you should really ride as much as possible while you can, once you get your new job time may be limited.

Today was 2x20 minutes tempo. It shouldn't have been nearly as hard as it was but I'm still paying for yesterday's VO2 max intervals.
Averaged 246 and 250 watts for the intervals. Tempo range is 215 - 257.

Lowcel, I have a question on your data. I see your cadence during the interval drops to the mid 80s. To me, that takes a lot of leg effort. Couldn't you get the same power in a easier gear at a faster rpm? Is there a benefit to the lower RPM other than creating massive guads?

I could get approximately the same wattage with a cadence around 95 but that tires me too quickly. I have never been a high cadence kind of guy even though I have tried many times.

Thanks lowcel. That sounds logical. I typically have a cadence between 90 and 100, so mid 80s are grinding. But it does work the muscles.

Thanks Jen. I have spoken with several experienced swimmers and when I tell them it takes me much longer to swim a mile freestyle than breaststroke all of them tell me I must have a major technique issue, and that front crawl should be about 1/3 faster than breaststroke at the same effort/HR.
I just watched the last 1/3 of Last Chance Harvey. It must hit me as I was in just the right mood because I didn't think the romantic storyline was silly. Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson keep it watchable.
Anyway, apart from the plot, one thing that struck me in the movie was how nice the London river walk along the Thames is. Nicer than Knoxville's, believe it or not. I saw a few cyclists buzzing by in the background. I wonder why coasting has never posted a ride report of the place?

Consider me jealous. My last bill only mentioned something about 28 years and 5 months left for me
. Other than that just student loans for me.
I don't know why you are all down on poor phantoj, he is right that would happen. I imagine it is why the hard shell is on all helmets.
Razor I think that black and blue trek looks good.
BLR, too bad you missed out on the 09 force crank CC had. At the end I think they were down to $60.

whew...away from a couple of days and a lot to get caught up on...
Helmets - when the foam ones were first popular, a lot of lycra covers were available. If I remember correctly, studies showed that the lycra would slide then suddenly grip the surface, making the neck wrench suddenly. The uncovered foam would stick on impact, and make the neck twist. Pretty much why all helmets now have a plastic type cover over the foam.
Razor is giving out medical advice based upon what sounds like some unpleasant digestive issues. You gotta love internet MDs...no offense RUOkie/Datlas...you're real MDs on the internet.
Razor has a bike as his wallpaper on his Xmas laptop...not surprising. However, on my computers I actually use a bike I own as my wallpaper. If he likes the new bike so much, why not a picture of it? And while I'm at it, how many times has he actually ridden that new bike?
LowCel - best wishes for your situation. Stephen King once wrote that "if a man discovers blood in his crap, his solution will be to shlit in the dark for the next month". Thanks for being better than that.
Olive Garden - there are a lot of people who think that Olive Garden and Red Lobster are fancy restaurants. That's okay. I bet a lot of them are "good people" as my father used to say. Just because we may have spent a lot more in fancier places doesn't mean we enjoyed our meal any more than they did theirs.
Razor, ride that damn bike. Once you get a job and/or go to college you'll find you have a lot less time to ride. Trust me on this...you'll wish you had made better use of your potential riding time.
