This whole thing is so calculated and stage-managed. It's hard not to be cynical about it. This is going to a completely self-serving "confession".

Then again, they all are to a greater or lesser extent. None of the disgraced former cyclists come clean in a modest, straightforward way: it's always as part of a deal for a lighter punishment, or they make sure to sign a lucrative book deal first and confess that way.

So when exactly is this going to be on? I checked the OWN schedule for 1/17, and the only Winfrey shows listed are supposed to be a couple re-runs on in the morning. Is it one of them?

DUH! Just checked the OWN website. Its at 9PM (Oprah's Next Chapter).

He who I shall not name wants a political run. HWISNN will have to clear legal hurdles in particular avoiding perjury charges. The deal may already be in place. There are economic redresses that will have to be made. Don't underestimate him. He has a substantial war chest.

I don't know about that. I think Levi came across as somewhat sympathetic. He certainly lost the most of any of them as far as results and future consequences. He's still without a ride for next season. And how can you hate a guy who admitted asking LA if doing EPO would make his elf ears get bigger.

I've already forgiven him for doping & lying. I hope they spend the whole time talking about Cheryl Crowe and that Olson twin.

And don't throw away your Livestrong stuff. It's going to have tremendous kitsch value someday, like my copy of Floyd Landis' ironically titled book. (Got it for 75 cents on Amazon.)

Yeah right. He did what all those other disgraced riders did (in terms of "cheating"); the reason he's
catching this much hell is because he's a giant ass that so many want to ****. That's why talks of his
possible admission results in scoffs. Others, more likable dopers, can cheat and spill details on others
to get an amazingly easy 6 month suspension and they are "heroes," or are well received by fans, or
at least not insulted, but not Lance. Nope, he's "arrogant" for being interviewed. No **** he's arrogant,
but he's always been so.

ftfy.

I do think Lance is taking more heat than others because of his ability to be an ass and he was a winner. It is bordering on ridiculous, but not quite there. IMHO, of course.

Thanks for fixing it lol
But yes, those who know a lil more about pro cycling than than avg joe...
But to those who casually follow cycling (just read about lance winning the TDF), they
probably think that he won solely because of doping and that all he screwed all those
poor, poor fellas that finished just behind him.

And how many of those who have provided evidence fought hard to get on the "A" team? How many of them continued to "use" after leaving the team? (cough, cough) And, got caught?

It's not about Lance. It's about a power play by the ADA's to gain power over the world sport governing bodies instead of advising to them.

Poor Levi…the guy was forced to dope by Lance and Johan
Their hold over him was so strong that he volunteered to come back to the team
that made him dope after years doping with other teams. Six months was far too
harsh. A six minute suspension seemed more appropriate.

Maybe Oprah will decide to take this moment to leave her mark on professional journalism and it will turn out something like that Frost/Nixon movie (and I mean the movie, not the boring real life story).

Maybe.

Uh, it's an NGO that receives over 2/3 of it's funding from the feds. Making it almost like a private, no need to respect your civil rights, arm of the federal gov't. See page 18.

Why can't we just stay away from the talk about whether the other Armstrong co-conspirators got their just dessert or not.

Let us just look at it in terms of FRAUD, that is, LA claimed to be who he was not. All the accolades/riches/admiration/fawning derived from a LIE.

And I don't like frauds or phonies.

Obviously no one can know what Oprah agrees to except for Oprah, but having worked as a journalist for a decade at outlets big and small, I can tell you it's probably because they know they won't be "ambushed" as if they were if they went on Piers Morgan or the show of someone else who really asks tough questions that sometimes makes people uncomfortable. These image conscious people wouldn't be going on her show all the time if they thought they'd have to answer really tough questions. I lived in the Nashville TV market when Oprah was getting her start on WSMV and she's never been a hard-hitting journalist.

The saddest thing about all this is it's just another example of when an athlete doesn't know when to say "goodnight" and leave the stage with whatever grace they have left. I firmly believe everything Lance has ever done is vanity first and this is just another example. In reality, the best thing anyone can do to protest this trend is not to watch. I know I won't.

The ironic part is lance probably got his cancer from the dugs he was taking jaja. I seriously recommend you all read Tyler Hamilton's Book The Secret Race. In that era everybody at the top level was doping, and everybody was cheating. Lance just cheated better, and it's catching up to him.

He has taken (among others) the sport and totally destroyed it.
Not true. Pro cycling was around years before him and will continue long after he's a complete unknown. He has managed to make a complete fool of himself.

Once upon a time, there was this famous popular singer who was involved in a settlement with the parents of a young boy. After the singer died, everyone forgot about the case and made his estate get rich by buying his music. The fans still loved him and even the young children went to his funeral even though they were not around when he recorded much of his music. Somehow we still listen to the music and we separate the man from the music that we somehow still enjoy.

"Smuck" must be a small little known jelly company. "Schmuck" is Yiddish for penis. Schmekel is Yiddish for a small or immature penis.
