Hate the Rapha infomercials... but that's all before live coverage. Go to cycling news for the text updates!

I was worried about that too when they moved it last year. But the organizers want the sponsors, and the sponsors want the fans and the fans want the big names and a LOT of big names are in California instead of Italy. We've got the World Champion, the Australian Champion, the US Road and TT champions, we've got this year's winners of Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, and Paris Roubaix, plus fan favorites Jens, Andy, Lars, and Oscar.

AEG is doing a great job.

I actually enjoyed the Rapha bit they did about riding Stage 2. To get around Beale AFB, they had to ride through Smartville and Camp Far West. Dirt roads, rolling hills, live oaks, and wildflowers. It truly is beautiful. We used to hike up there in Cub Scouts.

Yeah, the first time around it's not so bad. Looks like a fun time.

Then it gets played over and over and over....

Also, that Patrick Dempsey is a handsome devil, isn't he? Not that I would be interested, but then not that there's anything wrong with it either.

I can put you in touch with my mother is you want to talk about Patrick Dempsey more. I am not sure if she participates in the Dempsey challenge, because she had cancer or because she like him.

Was it just me or did it look like RS kind of left Horner to his own in the last couple K? You'd think he's done enough to at least get one guy shepherding him at the end. It's not like the guy doesn't know how to handle himself, but it just seemed strange to see him on a BMC guy's (maybe George?) wheel at the end.

I've photographed over a dozen ToC stages now (in the last 3 years or so), but Sierra Road
yesterday was my first mountaintop finish stage:

Harsh midday sun and a backlit finish were somewhat problematic, but exposure
compensation, fill flash & some pp mostly overcame it.
