Did polo happen?
I meant to go but a funny thing happened blah blah rain-induced napping blah blah blah lame excuse blah blah.

Tink--is mumra that experimental graphic you were honing for the shirts? There may be some copyright infringment issues. Although, not bad... Pirate mummy: new a concept in warrior technology.

in any case, the scavenge sounds fun! count me in.

we were 1 person short, so we just practiced shuffling, passing, shooting and tight turning with one hand; then went for a pitcher.

I LIKE cold weather!

So this is going to be a regular thing... then I need an other bike, that I don't care about getting banged up.... hmmm
And probably we need to think about reinforcing the mallets. BTW, did the 6th mallet show up?

may i recommend an anti-hipster? Even poopncow thinks its a good polo bike. i was thinking the same, if possible a beater bike is preferrable for polo when Sol is around

no, it did not show up i'm thinking we must have left it behind, unless Sol or Boogerbike has it...and yes the mallets could use some reinforing and painting, larger washers perhaps. i am impressed with how theyve done so far.

Yar! where were the other Pirates last night? Ye swabs only sail when the weather's fair?

Oh,and we're 3 for 3 now. I got yelled at by the cops on my way home. Going the wrong way down a one way. In all honesty,my glasses were hosed up with rain/fogging and I didn't notice exactly which street I turned onto.

26th sounds cool. Think I'll wear a white belt and come as a hipster.

best leave your helmet at home and slowroll it through the race; costumes arent just about the clothes, its style too.

dont worry guys, i'm guessing we're going to have to rebuild them every few months: missing the ball and slamming into the pavement is pretty bad for both mallet and player. so losing a couple is no big deal really.

Yarrr the six dollar pirate.
We can rebuild him. We have the technology.
We have the capability to make the world's first Bionic pirate.
______ will be that man. Better bike polo player than he was before.
Pillager . . . Drunkerd . . . Plunderer.

yes of course mallets...

Bikes: 2004 Bianchi Pista

I got yelled at by a metro cop when I carried my bike down the stairs at Metro Center. He asked if I was from around here, and I could honestly say no, I was from Maryland. Ha!

"I'm not from here" is the best excuse.

I really enjoyed my ride from the Metro home. Approx. 4 miles of silence, just dark wet streets and the occasional car. At one point I was <30 feet from a deer who got spooked by my headlight and I could hear its hooves clacking on the pavement as it ran across the street. Huge. Amazing.

Yup, in those mystical ways, the burbs are kinda cool. Thats why a good trip to the country side or camp is always nice.
Esp since spooking joggers on the trails just does not have the same effect. Remember, milk neutralizes pepper spray ... learned it on "my name is earl"

On another disconnected note: perhaps adding a cheap set of wheels would be easier than to add a whole other bike (for polo) to the stable.

flick the steering wheel again: So the 6th mallet is declared missing in pillage? we'll need to find some more golf clubs.

I-270:
so... we need a date and events.
i would propose saturday, november 5, in the evening. that way we can score the title before heading to chicago. but it's a proposal s'all.

Since we get to choose, i think we should choose things we're good or experienced at. And since only a few of us have fg bikes/experience, some events like skids or trackstands don't make a ton of sense.
based on what i've seen/heard...
i would recommend these events:
slow races
relays
polo
pickup
lock toss or other non-riding events
sprints
city block crits

i would recommend against these events:
jousting
trackstands
footdown
tug of war
skids

my $.02... others?

the tug of war just sounds silly, but i'd be intersted to see if this was even possible
city block crit is a must
as are the straight sprints
i think a relay (margarita?) would be a classic nod to our roots
polo should be included in light of our recent exploits
and i like the idea of a non riding event,,, lock toss is an option. so is pie gobbling.

but as this is a turf battle, there needs to be something more,, more,,
i don't know,, "street rumbly"?
i'm not advocating anything more physical than polo,,
but,, something with an edge, something tough, something dirty

[edit] lets rock this on the 5th!! and bring the deed to 270 with us to chi town
the 12 is clearly not an option [/edit]

OH! and LBK,,,
did the shirts get printed today?
i can't wait to see pictures.
